We reserve the right to review and progress one application per candidate based on the role's criteria and candidates' skills.** **About the Opportunity:** The BioPharmaceuticals and Oncology Research & Development (R&D) Undergraduate Industrial Placement Programme provides the opportunity for you to undertake a 12-month laboratory-based placement that will introduce you to the world of innovative drug discovery. **Clinical Pharmacology and Safety Sciences (CPSS)** CPSS is at the heart of AstraZeneca's mission to deliver life-changing medicines to patients. We evaluate the safety of new medicines across all stages of drug development and all of AZ’s therapy areas, working with some of the most innovative drug modalities in development today, including antibody-drug conjugates, bi- and tri- specific antibodies, oligonucleotides, T-cell engagers, and PROTACs. As a placement student, you'll gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced research environment, working alongside experienced scientists on real drug discovery projects. Depending on your team, you may develop bioanalytical assays, perform biomarker analyses, culture cells, apply bioinformatics and AI tools, and generate data that helps guide key decisions throughout the drug development process. **Qualification, Skills & Experience** **Required:** - Currently undertaking an undergraduate or integrated master’s degree within a biological discipline with the opportunity to spend 1 year in industry starting in September 2027 - Strong planning and organisation skills - Ability to see opportunities, learn, and apply that learning to drive innovation - Good collaboration and teamworking skills **Desirable:** - A good foundation of Microsoft Excel. - Experience in interpretation of data. - Experience of working in teams (could be in an educational or employment setting or any other team work you may have completed). **To support your application, please include a cover letter highlighting any scholarships, publications, lab experience or extracurricular activities demonstrating leadership and teamwork.
