Job description
The YMCA of Central Texas is hiring After School Counselors (18 y/o or older) to support elementary school students in our after-school program across Leander ISD . This is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with children, brings strong energy and patience to a group setting, and can create a safe, positive environment where kids can learn, play, and grow. Schedule and Pay Part-time schedule: Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM Summer schedule transitions to a full-day program Pay rate: $13.00-$15.50 per hour, based on experience $510 new staff bonus Benefits and Perks Free YMCA membership Tuition assistance Ongoing professional training Opportunity to build experience in youth development and education Rewarding work making a positive impact in your community What You’ll Do Provide active supervision for groups of children in an after-school setting Build positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and school representatives Help lead daily curriculum, games, and youth activities Create a fun, structured, and supportive environment for K-5 students Respond calmly and appropriately in urgent or unexpected situations Serve as a positive role model for children and families Minimum Requirements To be considered, applicants must meet all of the following: Be at least 18 years old Have a high school diploma or GED Be available to work Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM Be able to pass a background check and drug screen Be able to actively supervise groups of children in an after-school licensed childcare environment Be able to communicate clearly and professionally with children, parents, school staff, and coworkers Be dependable, energetic, patient, and comfortable working with children from a variety of backgrounds and abilities Be able to stay calm, use good judgment, and maintain a safe environment at all times Able to pass a background check and drug screen Preferred Background While this is an entry-level role, we are specifically looking for candidates who can demonstrate experience working with or supporting children, students and families.
