Job description
# **Hi there!** We're [**SweedPos**](https://sweedpos.com/#/)**,** a product-driven startup building an all-in-one cannabis retail platform. We’re on the lookout for an **AI Product Engineer** to join us remotely and help us scale and optimize our platform. # **About Us** **At Sweed**, we’re reimagining how cannabis retailers operate. Our **enterprise-grade platform** combines **POS, eCommerce, Marketing, Analytics and Inventory Management** into a single, seamless solution—eliminating the need for multiple third-party tools. We believe in **simplicity, efficiency, and innovation**. That’s why we build for **scalability and performance**, making life easier for cannabis retailers while driving real business growth. # **Why We’re Doing This** At **Sweed,** we believe in the **medicinal potential of cannabis.** It has been shown to help with chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and many other conditions. Despite the lingering stigma, we see **cannabis as a powerful tool for improving lives.** The **industry is evolving rapidly,** and we’re here to drive that transformation—making cannabis retail more **efficient, accessible, and customer-friendly.** # **Where We Are Now** We’ve been on the market for **7 years,** continuously growing and refining our product. Our focus is on **earning customer trust**, which means constantly **improving our delivery processes** and **rolling out new features**. At the same time, we navigate the **complex legal landscape** of the cannabis industry, ensuring our platform remains compliant and future-proof. # **Team Structure** Our **total team size is over 200 people**: **The development team is distributed globally** and organized into **cross-functional product teams.** These teams typically consist of 8–12 members, including front-end and back-end developers, QA specialists, and analysts. Each team is led by a Team Lead and a Product Owner, ensuring effective collaboration and clear direction. Meanwhile, our **CEO, account managers, and customer success team are based in the USA**, working closely with us to align product development with business and user needs. ## **Tech Stack** Backend: Node.js / .NET, PostgreSQL, Redis Frontend: React, TypeScript CI/CD: GitLab CI, Docker AI tools: Cursor, Claude, Codex # **Why this role matters** **An AI Product Engineer is a full-cycle engineer** who independently ships features end-to-end: scoping, backend, frontend, deploy. What sets this role apart from a traditional fullstack developer is the ability to use AI tools as a core part of the workflow — Cursor, Claude, Codex and similar assistants help move fast and maintain quality across the entire stack. We're not looking for a deep specialist in any single area. **This is not a deep ML, research, or heavy infrastructure role**: you don’t need to train models, design custom neural network architectures, or own complex Kubernetes setups. We’re looking for someone with range — an engineer who can use AI to close gaps, move across backend, frontend, and basic infrastructure, make pragmatic technical decisions, and deliver working product features consistently. # **What You’ll Be Working On** - Own features end-to-end — from task breakdown to production deploy - Design and build server-side logic (REST and RPC APIs, services, integrations) - Implement user interfaces — clean and fast, without over-engineering - Set up CI/CD, containerisation, and feature-level infrastructure (DevOps basics) - Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and task decomposition # **What We’re Looking For** **Backend** - 3–6 years of commercial experience in backend or fullstack development - Proficiency in Node.js (Express / NestJS) or .NET - Experience designing REST APIs and understanding of RPC approaches - Solid work with relational databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL / MSSQL) - Understanding of core patterns: queues, caching, async **Frontend** - Confident React — enough to build a working UI independently - TypeScript at a level sufficient to work with typed APIs - Pixel-perfect is not required; speed and solid UX matter **DevOps / infrastructure** - Docker and Docker Compose — confident everyday use - Basic CI/CD with GitLab CI - Experience deploying to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or similar) **AI engineering** - Active use of AI agents in development: Cursor, Claude, Codex or equivalents - Familiarity with agentic workflows: plan mode, REPL-style iteration, and similar approaches - Prompt engineering: ability to frame tasks clearly and load the context with relevant artefacts (code, schemas, requirements) - Output verification and review — understands where models fail and why - Degradation control: using tests and other mechanisms to maintain quality under agentic changes # **Nice to have** - Strong test coverage: unit, integration, e2e — writes tests as a real quality gate, not a formality - Cross-team development experience: coordinating changes with adjacent teams, working with shared services or platform - Experience in startups or small teams with broad ownership # **What Else Matters?** - **Proactivity** – We love team members who take initiative and provide feedback - **Critical thinking** – We value problem-solvers who think beyond just writing code - **Adaptability** – Our industry is evolving fast, and we need people who thrive in change # **What We Offer** - **Salary in USD** (B2B contract with the US company) - **100% remote** – We’re a remote-first company, no offices needed! - **Flexible working hours** – Core team time: 10:00-16:00 CET (flexible per team) - **20 paid vacation days + 12 holidays** per year - **3 sick leave** days - **Medical insurance** after probation - **Equipment** reimbursement (laptops, monitors, etc.) # **Hiring Process** - Intro Call with Sweed People Team (up to 40 min) - System Design (90 min) - Technical Interview (90 min) - (Optional) AI session (60 min) - Final interview (60 min)
