Position Status: Part time Shift: Other (United States of America) Hours per week: 0 Job Information Exemption Status: Non-Exempt A Brief Overview The staff nurse is a professional who utilizes excellent communication and customer relations skills in assessing, counseling and educating patients on lifestyle modifications as it relates to cardiovascular risk factor reduction and improved quality of life. The nurse is responsible for assessing the patient's physical response to exercise and psychological response to the illness. The nurse formulates a plan of care that will enhance the patient's recovery from a cardiovascular incident or use supervised exercise training for peripheral artery disease. Identifies patient's learning needs and implements appropriate measures to meet these needs by providing coaching directed toward behavioral change. Has a strong upstanding of billing and reimbursement issues related to the management of patients in Phase 2 rehabilitation, Phase 3 rehabilitation, and SET for PAD. The delivery of professional nursing care at Stormont Vail Health is guided by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and the theory of Shared governance, both of which are congruent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) Preferred Experience Qualifications 6 months Prior work experience in Cardiology Required Skills and Abilities Demonstrates awareness and application of safety issues as identified within the institution. Required (Required proficiency) Demonstrates awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and departmental functioning. Strives to manage situations in a manner, which minimizes risk to the patient and the institution. Required (Required proficiency) Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, non-verbal and written methods. Required (Required proficiency) Understands the pathophysiology, the treatment and the recovery process for the outpatient, recovering from coronary artery events (i.e. CABG, PTCA, MI, Valve Repair, stable angina, heart failure and intermittent claudication.) Required (Required proficiency) Identifies patient/so learning needs and implements appropriate measures to meet these needs by providing coaching directed toward behavioral change. This is accomplished through goal setting, verbal instruction (1:1 and group), written educational material and continual feedback. Required (Required proficiency) Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse - KSBN A multistate license with the ability to practice within the State of Kansas is also accepted. Required Basic Life Support - BLS RQI, CPR or ACLS certifications may be required in lieu of or in addition to BLS depending on department. Must have within 90 days of hire. What you will do Collects pertinent data and information relative to the patient, situation, or setting. Analyzes assessment data to determine actual or potential problems, and issues. Develops a collaborative plan encompassing strategies to achieve expected outcomes. Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or situation. Promote infection prevention through use of standard precautions, proper procedure in dressing changes, wound care, hand hygiene and cleanliness of the patient rooms/department. Implements identified plan through coordination of care and employs strategies to promote health and wellness. Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes. Delivers professional nursing care guided by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring illustrated by creating caring relationships, taking time to have uninterrupted moments with patients and displaying unconditional acceptance and respect. Promotes a mutually respectful environment that encourages the exchange of ideas and supports the effectiveness of professional relationships and integrates ethics in all aspects of practice. Demonstrates advocacy in all roles and settings. Practices Diversity, Equity and Inclusion principles in their daily work by respecting others’ uniqueness, perspectives, backgrounds or beliefs.
