Area Manager - Victoria

Job description

Who We Are At Contour, we’re reshaping education, one student at a time. Born from the frustration of students who knew the system could be better, we set out to build what we once wished existed: tutoring that actually works. Not generic classes. Not recycled notes. Not overpriced, overcrowded rooms with an out-of-touch teacher who couldn’t relate. But a complete ecosystem of tutoring, resources, and support, meticulously designed to help every student reach their full potential. Since 2020, over 15,000+ students have trusted Contour to guide their academic journey, and we’ve grown to over 500+ team members. We’ve produced hundreds of 99+ ATARs, tutored the World-Record UCAT scorer, and placed more students into medical school than any school in Australia. Our growth is a testament to the simple philosophy: Put the student first, always. Everything we design, from our world-class tutor-training programs to our purpose-built campuses, exists to help students master content faster, perform with confidence, and even rekindle the joy of learning. Contour is a group of three brands united by one goal: to give every student the best chance to achieve their full potential: Contour Education: Reshaping how students master their high school subjects with small-group tutoring, structured resources, and 1-on-1 support across Maths, Science, and English. Contour Medprep: Reshaping medical preparation with a proven, step-by-step pathway through the UCAT, interviews, and admissions, led by a team of 100+ medical students. Contour TestPrep: Reshaping test preparation, starting with the selective entry exam, through rigorous tutoring, mock exams, and data-driven feedback to give students a decisive advantage. This is Contour. Built by students, for students. What You'll Do You run the daily operations, standards, and people across every campus in your area. Area coverage: Oversee operations across 6 Victoria campuses, including Bentleigh, Glen Waverley Railway & Kingsway, Springvale, Narre Warren, and one upcoming campus. The frontline experience: Lead daily operations across every campus in your area, keeping quality, safety, and Contour's standards consistent everywhere. Standards and audits: Audit campuses regularly using data, feedback, and visits, and close the gaps you find before they become problems. Classes, rosters and resources: Split, merge and create classes against demand data, keep every roster covered, and own printing and resource delivery so no student ever misses out. Your leadership bench: Coach and mentor Campus Leaders, run onboarding and development, and recruit, train, and launch every new campus in your area. Projects and escalations: Lead on-campus projects, intensives, and events end to end, and be the first point of escalation for campus issues, so problems get solved at your level. Work health and safety: Champion WHS and child safety across every campus, identify and address risks early, and ensure every student and team member has a safe place to learn and work. Commercial performance and partnerships: Own the P&L and margin performance for your area, partnering closely with central operations teams to turn company wide plans into consistent campus execution and make smart, data-led decisions that support sustainable growth. What You'll Bring Experience running multi-site operations (essential) , ideally in education, retail, or hospitality. A track record of coaching frontline managers, not just supervising them. Comfort using demand and performance data to make roster, class, and resourcing calls. A habit of standardising what works and cutting what doesn't. A level head under pressure , especially when a roster breaks last minute. The confidence to hold people to a high standard , directly and respectfully. Working knowledge of WHS and compliance in a multi-campus environment. A genuine coach : you'd rather build your team's capability than fix things yourself. A full driver's licence and willingness to travel between campuses regularly. Energy for fast growth , and comfort figuring things out as new campuses open. Why You'll Love It Ownership: Every campus in your area is yours to run, and yours to prove. Growth: This role is the direct path into a State Manager seat, as your area or new areas open up. Reach: Your leadership shapes the experience of every student and every Campus Leader in your area. Culture: Join a founder-led group that's grown to 500+ team members and 15,000+ students since 2020. Reward: Competitive salary ($120,000 AUD + super + $15,000 car allowance), plus hybrid flexibility, extra leave, EAP access, and lifestyle perks. How To Apply If you care about running great campuses and building great leaders, we'd love to hear from you. Application Process Submit your application Shortlisted candidates will complete a behavioural and video interview assessment Final in-person interview Own the campus experience across your area. You're the person who makes sure every campus in your area runs the way it should, every day, not just on the days someone's watching. Overseeing operations across 6 Victoria campuses - including Bentleigh, Glen Waverley Railway & Kingsway, Springvale, Narre Warren, and one upcoming campus - you own the standard : consistent, safe, high-quality learning environments across every campus, delivered through the Campus Leaders you build and coach. You audit, fix, and lift what needs lifting, and you take on the tactical, multi-campus calls so your State Manager can stay focused on state-level strategy. This is a role for someone who's genuinely energised by being on campus, not behind a desk watching dashboards. You'll coach Campus Leaders through the real stuff, manage classes and rosters against demand data, and be the first person a campus calls when something goes wrong. If you'd rather build a bench of leaders who can handle it themselves than fix everything yourself, this is your seat.
