Job Description The Opportunity Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Prescott is seeking an energetic, collaborative, and student-focused professional to serve as the Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Student Union within the Department of Student Engagement & Student Union (SESU). This position plays a central role in creating a vibrant campus community by supporting student involvement, leadership development, orientation programs, and student organization success. The Assistant Director will work closely with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners to provide meaningful co-curricular experiences that enhance student engagement and belonging across campus. Position Overview: The Assistant Director provides primary oversight and leadership in the following areas: Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) Student Government Association (SGA) advising Orientation and transition programs Student leadership and engagement initiatives Departmental operations and student support services Key Responsibilities: Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) Serve as the primary contact and advisor for Registered Student Organizations Manage the new RSO registration and annual re-registration processes Provide guidance and support to student organization officers and advisors Coordinate training and development opportunities, including Officer Orientation programs Maintain and update RSO resources and educational materials Oversee organization-focused programs and events, including the annual Organization Fair Support student involvement marketing and outreach initiatives Manage RSO event registration and student travel notification processes Partner with University Risk Management to review and maintain safety standards and procedures for high-risk organizations Assess RSO programs and operations to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement Student Government Association (SGA) Serve as advisor to the Student Government Association and various SGA Service Organizations Meet regularly with student leaders to provide mentorship and operational support Attend and support open and closed SGA meetings Coordinate contracts and organizational logistics Assist with oversight of SGA budgets, project funds, and financial processes Support leadership development and organizational effectiveness among student government leaders Orientation & Transition Programs Lead the planning, development, and implementation of fall and spring Orientation programs Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor more than 40 student Orientation Leaders and Lead Orientation Leaders Manage Orientation program budgets and expenditures Coordinate with campus stakeholders to ensure seamless implementation of Orientation initiatives Collaborate with partners across Academic Affairs, Facilities, ROTC, the Chancellor’s Office, Campus Events, and other departments Participate in Campus Opening Committee planning efforts for the start of each semester Department Operations & Student Support Supervise a student assistant supporting RSO and departmental initiatives Serve as an administrator for the university’s student organization and event management software platform, Eagle Life (Campus Groups) Assist with departmental budgeting, purchasing, and operational processes Serve as a University conduct officer and oversee the RSO conduct process Collaborate on departmental initiatives related to Fraternity and Sorority Life, Leadership programs, Parent & Family Programs, Union operations, Campus-wide student engagement efforts Serve as a campus resource for event planning software and procedures, including Eagle Life and SchedulER Support departmental assessment initiatives and policy/procedure review processes Embry-Riddle: Celebrating 100 Years of Leadership in Aviation and Aerospace As Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University marks its Centennial, we proudly celebrate 100 years of advancing the future of flight and aerospace education. Qualifications Required Education and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in Student Activities and/or advising student organizations within higher education Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, student-centered environment Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage students, faculty, staff, and administrators Experience coordinating, planning, and executing campus events and programs Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills with the ability to take initiative Ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating effectively across campus departments Commitment to supporting a diverse student population and fostering an inclusive campus community Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration or a related field 3–5 years of professional experience advising student organizations on a college campus Direct experience working with student government organizations Knowledge of best practices in student involvement, engagement, and community building Experience using Campus Groups or similar student organization management software Experience serving as a student conduct officer Active involvement in local, state, or national professional organizations related to student activities or higher education leadership Application process/requirements Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
