Job description
## What you're applying for We're looking for a backend engineer to help build and scale the systems that power Lemonade's Home products. You'll be part of a self-sufficient squad within our Engineering team in TLV, working closely with Product, QA, Data, and Machine Learning to ship features that make a real difference for homeowners. We believe three things matter for every role at Lemonade: *drive* to push through challenges, *efficiency* that keeps standards high while moving fast, and *adaptability* that lets you pivot with data and AI insights. These aren't buzzwords, they're how we actually work. Our AI-first approach isn't just a tagline either. We're building the future of insurance with AI at the center, and we need people who are genuinely excited to learn and grow alongside these tools. ## In this role you'll - Build and maintain Home product features using microservices written in TypeScript (NestJS) - Leverage our in-house autonomous tools to manage the full development flow — from setting up your environment to deploying services to production - Collaborate closely with Product, QA, Analytics, Data, and ML teams within a self-sufficient squad to hit the squad's OKRs - Take ownership of your domain — writing clean, scalable, production-grade code that holds up at scale - Contribute to engineering best practices and help raise the bar across the team ## What you'll need - 3+ years working as a backend engineer - BSc in Computer Science or Mathematics (or equivalent experience) - Solid understanding of modern backend frameworks, tools, and architecture - Hands-on experience with TypeScript or similar strongly-typed languages - Experience working on production-grade projects with real performance and scalability demands - Proficiency in leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate writing, testing, and refactoring code. - Genuine curiosity about technology and how it can be applied to solve real-world problems - Ready to work in an office environment most days of the week
