Job description

As a leading provider of AI-powered extended managed detection and response (MXDR) services, Ontinue is on a mission to be the most trusted, 24/7, always-on security partner that empowers customers to embrace the future by using AI to operate more strategically, at scale, and with less risk. We believe that the combination of AI and human expertise is essential for delivering effective managed security that is tailored to a customer’s unique environment, operational constraints, and risks. Our MXDR service combines powerful proprietary AI with a one-of-a-kind collaboration model to continuously build a deep understanding of our customers’ environments, informing how we prevent, detect, and respond to threats. Our unrivaled Microsoft expertise allows customers to achieve these outcomes with the Microsoft Security tools they already own. The result is highly localized managed protection that empowers security teams to be faster, smarter, and more cost efficient than ever before. Continuous protection. AI-powered Nonstop SecOps . That’s Ontinue. Role Overview We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to help build the systems behind Ontinue’s internal and customer-facing experiences. This is not a classic “just build APIs” role. You’ll work on services and systems that power product experiences, investigation workflows, and customer-facing platforms — with real business logic, storage, event-driven architecture, and performance-sensitive data flows. We’re moving fast, and we’re doing it with a strong AI-first mindset. That means we don’t expect every solution to be built in the traditional way. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working with AI-assisted development tools, open to new technologies, and eager to help shape a more efficient way of building software. The right person will bring solid engineering fundamentals, together with a product mindset and the flexibility to adapt how work gets done. Key Responsibilities Build and evolve backend services that support both internal tools and customer-facing experiences Design and implement APIs, event-driven workflows, and services in .NET / C# Work with Azure services such as Service Bus, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, and related cloud services Help shape the systems behind products used by SOC analysts, internal teams, and customers Contribute to backend parts of frontend-heavy product initiatives where business logic, data, and system behavior matter Improve existing systems while also helping create new services and features Work closely with frontend engineers, product stakeholders, and other teams to deliver thoughtful solutions Use AI-assisted development tools in your day-to-day work to increase speed, quality, and leverage Help us evolve how engineering works in an AI-enabled environment Contribute to our CI/CD and infrastructure workflows, including Terraform where applicable Play a meaningful role in cybersecurity by helping make security operations more efficient and effective in a space that is always relevant Required Experience & Skills Required At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience Strong experience with .NET and C# Practical experience with Azure and cloud-based service development Experience building or maintaining event-driven systems Solid software engineering fundamentals, including writing maintainable code, understanding system behavior, and working thoughtfully with testing, debugging, and architecture Comfortable working in a collaborative product environment where requirements can evolve Curious, adaptable, and open to working in new ways, especially with AI-assisted development A mindset that combines engineering rigor with product thinking Clear communicator who enjoys working across teams and sharing feedback Preferred A degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field Frontend exposure or experience working closely with frontend-heavy teams Experience with automated testing and test strategy Experience with Terraform or infrastructure-as-code workflows Experience working on product-oriented software rather than purely platform/backend infrastructure Experience with distributed systems, microservices, or data-heavy systems Familiarity with modern developer tooling and AI-enabled workflow What We Offer We have been recognized as a top place to work! In addition to a competitive salary, we also offer great benefits and access to management and Microsoft training. Come as you are!
