Backend Engineer

Job description

# Stigg **The Usage Runtime for AI Products** ## But what is it exactly? Built by former New Relic engineers, Stigg provides the infrastructure AI companies need to meter, monetize, and govern product usage at scale. Our real-time usage runtime enables companies to manage entitlements, usage metering, credits, budgets, and access controls - all without building complex infrastructure from scratch. ## So what? Why now? AI is fundamentally changing how software is consumed and monetized. Every API request, inference, or agent action can generate real cost, while traditional billing systems only report usage after it happens. Stigg helps AI companies make real-time decisions about what each customer, user, team, or agent is allowed to do - before the cost is incurred. This gives engineering teams the control they need, while allowing Product and GTM teams to quickly introduce and evolve new monetization models. ## Are you funded? 💰 We are! Stigg is backed by Red Dot Capital Partners, Unusual Ventures, and Emerge. Our platform is trusted by leading companies such as Miro, Webflow, PagerDuty, Upwork, Productboard, Qlik, and HackerOne. ## Team → Product → Traction - where you at? 🐜 A lean global team of around 40 people 🏠 Headquartered in Tel Aviv, with team members across Israel, the US, and Europe 🚀 Launched Stigg 2.0 - the Usage Runtime for AI Products ⚡ Built to process over 1M usage events per second and make real-time decisions in milliseconds # We’re looking for an exceptional Infrastructure Backend Engineer! We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to join our Metering & Infrastructure team and help build the infrastructure that powers the next generation of AI products. Stigg sits directly in the request path of our customers’ applications, making real-time decisions about entitlements, credits, usage, and access. This makes performance, scalability, and reliability critical to everything we build. You’ll work on our metering infrastructure, built to handle 1M events per second, including remote deployments running in our customers’ cloud environments. You’ll also partner closely with our engineering teams to help them move faster, improve the developer experience, and build the tools and infrastructure they need to ship software quickly and reliably. ### What will be your primary goals 🎯 - Lead infrastructure initiatives and continuously improve our SDLC, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. - Build and scale our high-throughput, low-latency metering pipeline. - Build and maintain BYOC (Bring Your Own Cloud) deployments in customers’ cloud environments. - Improve the developer experience by building tools and infrastructure that help our engineering teams move faster and ship with confidence. - Play an active role in shaping our architecture and driving key technical decisions. ### What we think can help you achieve your goals 🏆 - 3+ years of backend software engineering experience, with a strong focus on infrastructure. - Proven experience designing and building APIs, microservices, and distributed systems. - Strong understanding of messaging systems and event-driven architectures. - Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. - Experience working with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS. - Daily hands-on experience with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor) and agentic development workflows. ### You Are - Excited about building new products and systems from the ground up. - Pragmatic, curious, and comfortable expressing a strong technical opinion. - Fast learner who can adopt new technologies from research to production. - An excellent communicator and collaborator. - Proactive and highly motivated. ### **Bonus Points 🌟** - Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Pulumi. - Experience building SDKs, CLI tools, or internal developer tooling. - Experience with Kafka and stream processing frameworks like Apache Flink. - Experience building and operating high-scale, low-latency systems. - Experience working on infrastructure or platform teams with a strong focus on developer experience (DevEx). - Hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript. - Experience with Argo CD and GitOps workflows. # Now to the important details ### Perks ### Stack 🎁 Stock options, a competitive salary, a new MacBook Pro, plenty of SWAG, and a fun, dog-friendly office. ⌨️ We believe in choosing the right tools for the job. Our stack includes K8s, ArgoCD, Kafka, Apache Flink, TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, SQS, and AWS. ### Hybrid 🏠 We work 4 days together, 1 day from home. ### Location 📍 Our office is located in Tel Aviv, between Rothschild Boulevard and Neve Tzedek. We also help our team with commuting and parking.
