Job description
The **Building Engineer** is responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and repair of building systems and equipment. This role ensures the facility is operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable regulations while providing a high level of service to tenants and stakeholders. Pay: $38.00 - $40.00/hour. The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. For information about ABM’s benefits, visit ABM [ABM Employee Benefits - Frontline](https://wpe-media.abm.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/ABM_2025_Employee_Benefits_Frontline_v2_English_9.5.24.pdf) ### Key Responsibilities: - Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems - Monitor and maintain building automation systems (BAS/BMS) - Conduct regular inspections of facility systems and identify potential issues - Respond to service requests and troubleshoot equipment problems in a timely manner - Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and company policies - Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs - Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance - Support energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability efforts - Assist with emergency response and after-hours issues as needed - Maintain clean, organized, and safe mechanical and work areas ### Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred - 3+ years of experience in building maintenance or engineering role - Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems - Experience with building automation systems preferred - Relevant certifications (EPA, HVAC, or Journeyman license) a plus ### Skills & Competencies: - Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills - Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively - Good communication and customer service skills - Basic computer skills for work orders and reporting systems - Attention to detail and commitment to safety
