Business Development Representative

Job description

At Breeze, we're building the AI-powered infrastructure layer for global commerce, making it radically simpler for businesses to sell, get paid, and operate across markets. We go far beyond traditional payment processing. Breeze combines global payments, AI, stablecoins, and a Merchant of Record-like model to take on the complexity businesses typically manage themselves, including compliance, risk, fraud, chargebacks, reconciliation, and customer support. Our goal is simple: let businesses focus on building and selling great products while Breeze handles the complexity behind getting paid. Backed by **Sequoia Capital**, **Multicoin Capital**, and **The Chainsmokers**, Breeze is a successful, rapidly growing, and exceptionally well-capitalized company. We have the runway to think long term while remaining early enough that every person joining today can have a meaningful impact on what we build. ## We are hiring a Business Development Representative! As our Business Development Representative, reporting to our Director of Sales, EU, you'll own the top of the funnel: identifying the companies that should be running on Breeze, getting through to the people who actually make the decision, and turning cold accounts into conversations our sales team can close. This is an execution role with real judgment attached. You'll build target lists from scratch, work accounts across email, LinkedIn, phone, and wherever else your buyers pay attention, and write outreach that earns a reply from operators who get pitched by a payments company every week of their lives. It's also a build role. Outbound at Breeze is still early, and the targeting, sequences, and messaging you prove out become the playbook the next set of hires runs. We're looking for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, wants meaningful ownership, and is excited to build rather than simply maintain. This role will be hybrid in Amsterdam once we create an office. ## What You'll Do ### Pipeline generation - Own outbound pipeline for your territory and hit weekly and monthly meeting targets. - Run high-volume, multi-channel outbound across email, LinkedIn, phone, and other channels where your buyers are reachable. - Qualify inbound and outbound interest against our ICP, and hand off meetings with enough context that the account executive can run the first call properly. - Manage multi-touch sequences and persistent follow-up across long buying cycles. ### Research and targeting - Build and maintain target account lists: who they are, what they sell, how they take payments today, and why Breeze is a better answer. - Map buying committees and find the person who actually owns the payments decision, not just the person who is easiest to reach. - Use data and account research to prioritize the accounts most likely to convert. ### Messaging and experimentation - Write outreach that is specific to the account and worth reading, not templated filler. - Run structured experiments on subject lines, angles, channels, and sequencing, and keep what works. - Feed what you're hearing in the market back to sales and marketing so our messaging keeps getting sharper. ### Systems and reporting - Keep CRM and outbound tooling clean and current: activity, accounts, contacts, and opportunity stages. - Track your own funnel metrics and know where your conversion is breaking down before anyone has to ask. - Use AI and automation to remove the repetitive work from research, list building, and personalization. ## What We're Looking For - 1–3+ years in sales development, business development, or outbound prospecting, with a track record of hitting meeting or pipeline targets. - Demonstrated comfort with high-volume outbound across multiple channels, including phone. - Strong written communication. You can hold a stranger's attention in four sentences and make a specific, credible case. - Genuine persistence and organization. You run dozens of accounts in parallel without letting follow-ups slip. - Hands-on with CRM and sales engagement tooling (Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, SalesLoft, Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or equivalents). - Enough commercial curiosity to learn how payments actually work and explain it plainly to a prospect. - Comfortable operating in fast-moving environments without an established playbook. - A builder mentality with a strong bias toward action. - Excited to use AI and automation to work smarter and rethink existing processes. - Comfortable getting into the details and doing the work, regardless of seniority. ### Nice to Have - Experience prospecting into fintech, payments, ecommerce, gaming, or other high-volume digital commerce verticals. - Experience at an early-stage or high-growth startup, especially as an early outbound hire. - Ability to pull and analyze your own outbound data rather than waiting on a report. - Experience building a sequence or territory from zero. ## What Success Looks Like - **30 days:** You know the product, the ICP, and the competitive landscape well enough to run your own outreach. Your first sequences are live. - **90 days:** You're consistently hitting your meeting targets, your handoffs are clean, and you have evidence on which messages and segments work. - **6 months:** You've built a repeatable outbound motion in your territory that another rep could pick up and run, and you're a real input into how we target and position Breeze. ## Why Breeze - **More than payments:** We're building an intelligent infrastructure layer across payments, compliance, risk, fraud, chargebacks, reconciliation, and customer support. - **AI from the ground up:** AI isn't an add-on. It's central to how we're building our products and how our teams operate. - **Successful and still early:** We have meaningful traction and strong financial foundations while remaining early enough for new hires to have outsized impact. - **Built for the long term:** Backed by Sequoia Capital, Multicoin Capital, and The Chainsmokers, we're exceptionally well-capitalized with the runway to think big. - **Real ownership:** Lean teams, few layers, direct access to decision-makers, and the autonomy to make things happen. - **Hard problems:** Work at the intersection of AI, payments, stablecoins, risk, compliance, financial infrastructure, and global commerce. - **Exceptional team:** Work with ambitious, curious, low-ego people who move quickly and care deeply about what they build. - **Room to grow:** As Breeze grows, strong performers can quickly expand their scope and take on bigger problems. ## How We Work - **Act Now, Improve Later:** Ship something real today. Move fast, learn from what happens, and make it better. - **Disagree and Commit:** Debate hard before a decision. Once it's made, commit fully and make the outcome right. - **Customers First:** When in doubt, start with what's most painful for the customer. - **Own It, End to End:** Don't wait to be asked. If you see a problem, take responsibility for solving it. - **Default to Public:** Share context openly so the whole team can move faster and learn from each other. - **High Standards, Genuine Warmth:** Hold the bar high and treat people well. Be direct, rigorous, kind, and low ego. - **Outcomes Over Activity:** We care about what ships, what works, and what moves the needle, not how busy you look. - **AI Forward, Always Learning:** Experiment with new tools, automate the repetitive, share what works, and continuously rethink how you can work smarter. ## Compensation Philosophy We believe compensation should be fair, competitive, consistent, and transparent. - We benchmark compensation against the market and establish thoughtful bands for each role. - Compensation reflects experience, skills, location, role scope, and expected impact. - We don't believe pay should primarily depend on how aggressively someone negotiates. - Eligible employees receive meaningful equity, so the people building Breeze can participate in the long-term value they help create. ## Benefits & Perks - **Health coverage:** Breeze covers a majority of your health coverage - **PTO:** 21 days, plus applicable company holidays. - **Equity:** Meaningful ownership in the company you're helping build. - **Equipment:** A new MacBook Air and whatever else you need to do your best work. - **Office & education allowance:** An annual budget for your workspace, tools, and professional development. - **Wellness:** A monthly reimbursement to support your well-being. - **Annual global offsite:** We bring the global Breeze team together every year. Previous destinations include Bali and Singapore, with Japan coming next. --- **Why Join Breeze** - **Make an outsized impact:** We're successful and still early, with meaningful traction and strong financial foundations. Lean teams, few layers, and direct access to decision-makers mean you'll have real ownership and the autonomy to make things happen. - **Solve hard, meaningful problems:** Work at the intersection of AI, payments, stablecoins, risk, compliance, financial infrastructure, and global commerce as we build an intelligent infrastructure layer that goes far beyond payments. - **Build AI-first:** AI isn't an add-on. It's central to how we're building our products and how our teams operate. You'll experiment with new tools, automate the repetitive, and continuously rethink how to work smarter. - **Work with an exceptional team:** Join ambitious, curious, low-ego people who move quickly, hold a high bar, and care deeply about what they build. - **Grow with Breeze:** As Breeze grows, strong performers can quickly expand their scope and take on bigger problems. - **Build for the long term:** Backed by Sequoia Capital, Multicoin Capital, and The Chainsmokers, we're exceptionally well-capitalized with the runway to think big. **In-Office Expectations** Employees based in our **New York City, NY** office follow a hybrid work model and are expected to work from the office **three days per week**. Employees based in our **Singapore** office are expected to work **on-site five days per week**. In-office expectations may vary slightly depending on role, team, and business needs. Certain roles that require closer cross-functional collaboration or operational support may have additional requirements, which will be discussed during the interview process. Our approach is designed to support meaningful in-person collaboration, team building, and real-time decision-making while providing flexibility where applicable. We believe this structure enables strong execution, close collaboration, and effective teamwork across our global offices. **Come Build With Us!** We offer a rare combination: the ownership and speed of an early-stage company with the traction, backing, and financial foundations of a successful business. We're building at the convergence of AI, payments, stablecoins, financial infrastructure, and global commerce. The opportunity is much bigger than building another payment processor. We're building the intelligent infrastructure layer for global commerce, and there's still an enormous amount left to build. If you want meaningful ownership, hard problems, exceptional teammates, and the opportunity to help define what comes next, we'd love to hear from you!
