Business Intelligence Manager - London

Job description

**Location:** London (Oval), United Kingdom **Type:** Full-time. Office-based 👋 I’m Oren, Co-founder of Zen Educate I started out my career in Business Intelligence and am really excited to be hiring a new Business Intelligence Manager to level up our data function. If you’re a “composer” of data insights, with numbers, tables and joins as your instruments, but what you really love is seeing your creations used every single day and leading to real improvements in sales or customer experience, then keep reading. **🌍 Why we exist** Education is the cornerstone of a thriving society. Schools do their utmost to provide children with positive experiences, but having the right staff is essential to fulfilling that promise – that’s where we come in. Whether it’s a Year 1 teacher to greet her “good morning” or a Teaching Assistant to support him in the break times, Zen helps schools find the right educators faster without breaking the bank. Schools in the UK spend over £2bn a year on agency staff. Zen is an all-in-one digital platform that gives schools full control over how they find, vet, and manage temporary educators. School leaders can search, book, and manage staff in real time, while gaining full visibility and control over their spend and compliance. To go with our technology, we practice a culture of “we care more”, so that ultimately, by improving staffing in schools, we’re delivering thousands of smiles to children’s faces every single day. What we need now is sharper, faster insight to power the next stage of growth. That’s where you come in. **🌱 What we are looking for** **We’ve built strong foundations already:** - We are one of the leading suppliers in our industry and one of the fastest growing companies in the UK. - A high-performing and highly motivated team in place. - A differentiated product that makes a genuine impact on the lives of educators and pupils. **We’re now looking to level up even further. You’ll be excited about this role if you:** - Think deeply about the business drivers to inform the minimal set of dashboards that power the business, rather than building everything on demand. - Proactively identify gaps in understanding at different levels of the business and come up with simple solutions to improve them. - Love getting the most out of the existing tool stack, while also evaluating new tools that could help us achieve another leap forward. - Engage internal and external stakeholders to get things done quickly and accurately. - Love mapping out processes and deeply understanding problems with stakeholders, before designing solutions. **Some traits that usually correlate with success in this role:** - You’re passionate about making real world impact on the education system. - You think BIG, not only incrementally. In three years the Business Intelligence function will be unrecognisable from where it is now. - You’re process-led and hyper-structured. You plan meticulously to deliver commercial results by building playbooks that don’t rely on you on an ongoing basis. **What your first 6-12 months might look like:** - Empower the commercial leadership team by reviewing and implementing the minimal set of dashboards that serve their day to day and annual goals. - Improve the customer experience by implementing systems and/or data pipelines for regular marketing and operations processes. - Increase return on marketing spend by making data available faster and improving visibility of spend and return across regions and channels. **Who you’ll work with** We’re a 500+ (and growing!) team operating across the UK, US, and Canada. We’re well funded, growing fast, and have tremendous unit economics. Simply put, we’re doing really well by doing good. As such, we’re a passionate group of missionaries rather than mercenaries. We’re looking to find someone who shares our passion for the mission of making education better. **What you might like or dislike** Every place makes trade-offs based on what they value and where they are in their journey. Here’s a list of things you might find useful in figuring out if this is the right role for you. If we end up chatting, feel free to dig deeper into any of them. - Slope and passion over Y-intercept. High-trajectory individuals with a passion for what they do very quickly lap those with a higher initial starting point in their domain but slower trajectory. That means that how you go about tackling hard unstructured problems matters to us more than your experience with a specific tool or industry. - Building the system rather than individual heroics: having great players on the pitch is critical. However, a great system trumps the best performer without one. We’ve got a product with genuine product market-fit that makes our customers’ lives better. We’re looking for someone who can level up systems and then extract themselves from them to tackle the next big problem. 🎁 **Perks & benefits** - Competitive salary + ownership in the company. - 25 days holiday + all the usual UK public holidays. - A central London (dog friendly!) office with perks like fresh fruit, bike parking, showers, an on-site gym, and a café. - Meaningful work - this isn’t just another SaaS tool; you’re literally helping schools save money and pay teachers more. - 1-1 coaching to keep you growing personally and professionally. - Life & Health Insurance, Cycle to Work Scheme, Electric Car Scheme. - Join a certified B Corp: where your work creates a real, positive impact. 💜 **Diversity and Inclusion** At Zen, we strive to build a culture of equity and inclusion, where everyone is respected, valued and appreciated for their unique traits, experiences and perspectives. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and equitable environment where our team can thrive, regardless of age, ethnicity, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, disability, religion or beliefs. We value our differences and believe that practices of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion help us create a fairer, more compassionate environment for all. We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and different experiences and perspectives - just like the staff who teach through Zen and the children at the schools we work with. We believe in hiring the best people from the widest pool and creating an inclusive culture where people’s voices are heard and all our team can look forward to coming to work. We are committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of our community and promoting an equitable and inclusive environment for all. We seek out diverse opinions, beliefs, and experiences because they collectively make us stronger; we’ve had former teachers, pilots, fundraisers, engineers, lawyers, marketers, social media experts and more join our team. **Interested? Let’s go!** If you’ve made it this far and you’re excited then hit apply. If the timing isn’t right or you’re not sure it’s the right fit, reach out anyway. We’re always open to talking to those who believe in our mission. Let’s build something that actually matters!
