Business Strategy Analyst

Job description

#### About CoLab At CoLab, we help mechanical engineering teams bring life-changing products to market years sooner. We build AI for engineers designing cars, medical devices, and jet engines. Products this complex aren't sketched and sent to production. Teams spend months on iterations, reviews, and tests, predicting how every part performs before anything is built. CoLab is where those reviews happen, and we capture the rationale behind every change. Other tools show what changed between versions. Only CoLab knows why. That's how our AI helps manufacturers like Bobcat, Triumph Motorcycles, and GE Appliances make better decisions, eliminate rework cycles, and get to market faster. Proudly based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, CoLab started with one customer in 2018. Since then we’ve raised a [$72M Series C](https://financialpost.com/pmn/business-wire-news-releases-pmn/ai-is-changing-engineering-colab-just-raised-72m-to-lead-the-transformation), been named the 57th fastest growing company in North America by Deloitte ([Fast 500™](https://financialpost.com/pmn/business-wire-news-releases-pmn/colab-ranked-number-57-fastest-growing-company-in-north-america-on-the-2025-deloitte-technology-fast-500)), signed multi-year [AI partnerships with companies like Bombardier](https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-bombardier-signs-contract-colab-ai-software/), and grown to a team of 250+. ### **About the Role** You’ll sit on CoLab’s Strategy team and work on some of the most important and least-defined questions across the business. One week you might research an emerging market and build the case for how we should approach it. The next, you could dig into customer data, help shape an executive presentation, or jump into a cross-functional project. You won’t always get a detailed playbook. You’ll be expected to ask good questions, find the right information, make sense of it, and keep things moving. This role is ideal for someone who is intensely curious, ambitious, and eager to understand how a high-growth B2B SaaS company operates. ### **Our Ideal Candidate** You’re early in your career, but people already trust you with hard problems. You’re curious enough to go several layers deeper than the initial question. You can take a messy collection of customer conversations, market data, and internal context and turn it into something useful. And when the answer isn’t obvious, you don’t wait around for perfect instructions. You communicate clearly, care about the quality of your work, and are comfortable collaborating with people across different functions and levels of seniority. If you want predictable projects with tightly defined boundaries, this probably isn’t the role for you. If being thrown into something unfamiliar and figuring it out sounds energizing, you’ll likely thrive here. ### **Job Responsibilities** - Research industry trends, market segments, competitors, and customer needs to uncover business opportunities. - Support strategy development with rigorous research, data, insights, and hands-on execution. - Partner with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success on market and competitive research. - Take ambiguous business questions, structure the problem, gather evidence, and recommend practical next steps. - Build presentations, briefing documents, analyses, and other materials that help teams make better decisions. - Own high-impact, cross-functional projects as new priorities and opportunities emerge. - Turn what you learn into action rather than stopping at the analysis. ### **Qualifications** - 1–3 years of relevant experience; exceptional new graduates with strong internship or co-op experience are encouraged to apply. - Strong research, analytical, and communication skills. - Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate what matters clearly. - Comfortable taking ownership with limited direction while knowing when to ask for input or support. - Genuine enthusiasm for learning how businesses, markets, customers, and products work. - Exposure to B2B SaaS, consulting, startups, or Marketing, Sales, Product, or Customer Success teams is a plus. Frequently cited statistics show that people who identify with historically marginalized groups are likely to apply to jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. We encourage you to help us break that statistic and apply even if you don’t meet every single qualification—your potential is what matters most to us.
