Child Life Specialists with the Behavior Safety Team Full-time, 40 hours per week, 1.0 FTE Location: Burnet Campus Monday-Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Weekend Rotation: working one weekend day every eight weeks is required. $5.00/hour weekend differential on qualified hours added to base pay. Benefits eligible and 30 days of paid time accrued per year. Unused PTO rolls over. Pay starts at $53,705.60 annually (as a salaried/exempt employee) and can increase based on years of experience. About the Job: The Behavior Safety Team (BST) is an interdisciplinary team dedicated to helping individuals receive the medical care they need while maintaining their safety and the safety of caregivers and staff. The BST Child Life Specialist works alongside the rest of the team, including the clinical directors, psychologists, behavior health facilitators, behavior health consultants, and intake coordinators, to help create and carry out comprehensive support plans to ensure physical and emotional safety during healthcare encounters and appointments. The key responsibilities include pre-planning for healthcare appointments, providing child life support, collaborating with the Adaptive Care Team and Outpatient Child Life Specialists, aiding program development, and educating peers on behavioral support strategies and crisis response. Required Job Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Completion of child life internship under the supervision of a certified CLS required. Please note: Candidates who have not completed the required internship will not be considered for this position. Must be Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) within one year of hire. Preferred Job Skills: Experience or strong interest in working with patients with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors. Ability to remain calm in highly escalated/crisis situations. Excellent communication skills. Ability to speak up and advocate for patients/families with the interdisciplinary team. Strong teamwork skills. Willingness to learn/apply feedback.
