Claims Handlers - Settlements | Home Salary – From £28,000 + annual bonus & benefits Work Level – 1 Location – Newcastle (Hybrid) Office Attendance – Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:00. You'll start your journey with 6 weeks of office-based training, to give you the skills, knowledge and support to succeed. Once fully competent in role, you'll have the opportunity to move to hybrid working, subject to meeting the required criteria. We're looking for a Claims Handler - Settlements to join our Home Settlement Team. You'll manage and settle a portfolio of claims efficiently and economically while delivering excellent outcomes for customers and stakeholders. This is an opportunity to apply your claims handling expertise in a role where you'll investigate claims, assess information, negotiate settlements and support customers through challenging circumstances. Your technical knowledge, sound judgement and customer focus will help deliver positive outcomes for both our customers and the business. What you’ll be doing • Ensuring claims are handled and settled efficiently and in the correct technical manner, in line with policy cover and company standards. • Managing an active caseload, maintaining accurate reserves, file management, recoveries and claim progression throughout the claim lifecycle. • Investigating claims and assessing liability where appropriate, ensuring payments are made fairly and accurately. • Negotiating effectively with customers, suppliers and stakeholders to achieve fair outcomes for both the customer and the business. • Identifying, investigating and escalating potential fraud concerns, taking appropriate action in line with company processes. • Providing excellent customer service by resolving claim queries and complaints, building positive relationships and ensuring regulatory compliance at all times. What we’re looking for: (minimum criteria) • Experience working within the insurance industry, with a strong understanding of insurance principles and an interest in, or knowledge of, home insurance claims. • Proven experience managing and prioritising an active caseload independently, demonstrating strong organisation, commercial judgement and sound decision-making skills. • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships, explain complex information clearly and deliver solutions that meet customer and business needs. • Strong customer focus and personal accountability, with the confidence to take ownership of decisions, demonstrate empathy in challenging situations and work effectively across multiple IT systems.
