Pulse is recruiting for an exciting part-time opportunity in South Yorkshire, working with adults who present with some of the most complex mental health needs in the UK. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, delivering formulation-led, evidence-based psychological interventions while helping shape and develop specialist services.

Responsibilities

As a Highly Specialist Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, you will:

Provide specialist psychological assessments, formulations and interventions for adults with complex mental health needs.
Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions in individual, family and group formats.
Support patients with presentations including autism, complex trauma, personality disorders, functional neurological disorder (FND), eating difficulties, depression, OCD and self-harm.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to develop effective care and treatment plans.
Offer psychological consultation, advice and guidance to other professionals across the service.
Contribute to risk assessment and risk management planning.
Support patients and families throughout their recovery journey and preparation for life outside hospital.
Supervise and support assistant psychologists, therapeutic support workers and psychology trainees where appropriate.
Participate in research, service evaluation, quality improvement and audit projects.
Deliver training and contribute to the ongoing development of psychological thinking across the service.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

HCPC registration as a Clinical Psychologist or Counselling Psychologist.
Experience working with adults experiencing complex mental health difficulties.
Excellent assessment, formulation and therapeutic intervention skills.
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Strong communication and report-writing skills.
A compassionate, professional and recovery-focused approach to patient care.

Desirable

Experience working within inpatient, forensic, specialist mental health or eating disorder services.
Experience supporting individuals with autism, complex trauma, personality disorders or other complex co-morbid presentations.
Knowledge of therapeutic approaches such as Trauma-Focused CBT, CBT-ED, DBT, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or neurodiversity-informed interventions.
Experience in teaching, supervision, research or service development activities.
