The MCRS Strategic Account Manager (SAM) plays a pivotal role in advancing Medtronic’s strategic objectives through relationship management, business development, portfolio oversight, and proactive issue/risk mitigation. The SAM is responsible for cultivating trusted partnerships across Operating Units (OUs), regional teams, and Medtronic Clinical & Regulatory Solutions (MCRS) stakeholders. By understanding diverse needs, aligning expectations, and delivering tailored solutions, the SAM supports both clinical evidence generation and achievement of business goals. As the central liaison, the SAM fosters strategic collaboration, anticipates future opportunities and challenges, and drives innovation. Through effective communication and solution facilitation, the SAM lays the groundwork for long-term success and compliance, empowering stakeholders to focus on delivering clinical outcomes that prioritize patient care. Core Activities of the SAM: Stakeholder & Relationship Development/Management: Serve as the primary contact for OU/regional leaders and MCRS stakeholders, ensuring their needs are met and building strong, synergistic partnerships. Promote internal collaboration with MCRS teams to drive sustainable organizational growth. Lead and enhance engagement activities with OUs/regional partners, building robust relationships and deepening insights into trends, service gaps, industry priorities and market pressures. Collaborate across MCRS teams to break down silos and deliver customized solutions that address evolving stakeholder needs. Continuously adapt MCRS focus to reflect stakeholder values and emerging industry trends. Business Development: Drive innovation by identifying new opportunities for clinical evidence generation. Facilitate strategic discussions with OU/regional partners and MCRS to anticipate future needs and challenges. Act as a reference point for service capabilities, pipeline commissioning, and new business opportunities. Assess and communicate the value of new or modified services through pilot programs; educate partners on current and future offerings. Generate new leads via networking and outreach. Leverage critical thinking to manage service offerings, track progress, and analyze customer needs to deliver impactful, tailored solutions that drive meaningful outcomes. Oversee the proposal and negotiation process for MCRS services, including potential outsourcing, ensuring clear alignment of expectations and deliverables. Develop and execute strategic plans in partnership with OUs/regional partners, leveraging data analysis, benchmarking, and market intelligence to meet business objectives. Support organizational agility through ongoing market intelligence and competitive analysis. Financial & Performance Oversight at Portfolio Level: Oversee portfolio-level deliverables and timelines, ensuring alignment with objectives and budget. Provide regular updates on performance, quality, and financial status, offering insights into cost and performance drivers. Apply lessons learned to drive continuous improvements in collaboration with MCRS and OU stakeholders. Conduct service delivery performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to drive excellence. Work closely with finance partners to ensure accurate forecasting and ongoing financial oversight of the portfolio. Risk/Issue Management: Identify and mitigate risks at the portfolio level in partnership with MCRS stakeholders. Collaborate closely with Quality and Compliance teams to ensure effective communication flow for regulatory requirements, proactively share and address quality and compliance concerns, and strengthen connections to prevent issues and mitigate risks. Oversee Lead end-to-end issue resolution, applying critical thinking to ensure diagnose root causes and implement effective solutions. Ensure systematic communication, escalation, and resolution of risks and issues related to quality, safety, timelines, and budget. Capture and share best practices to proactively prevent risks across the portfolio. Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. Provides leadership for the conduct of clinical studies and for the regulatory affairs function as it applies to product approval. Studies must be scientifically valid, meet all relevant regulatory requirements and be conducted within ethical guidelines. The end result of the clinical studies must be a fair assessment of the safety and efficacy of the tested product (s) and attainment of product approvals in a timely matter. Develops and implements regulatory strategies to obtain timely product approvals form worldwide regulatory bodies. Ensures regulatory submissions are accurately prepared and comply with regulatory approvals. People working within region/country may also have the responsibilities that include: Represents Medtronic from a clinical research respective within the country / region and also collects feedback from local customers and authorities. Builds and maintains a strong network and close relationship with the various internal and external parties. Leads execution for both local and global studies, manages clinical research projects over all of the Medtronic therapies across multiple businesses. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree 5+ years of related clinical experience (3+ years with an advanced degree) Nice to Have Experience in clinical research, clinical operations, strategic account management, business development, or portfolio management within healthcare, medical device, pharmaceutical, CRO, or related life sciences organizations. Experience building and influencing relationships across complex, global matrix organizations and leading strategic customer or business partner engagements. Knowledge of clinical trials, evidence generation, regulatory requirements, quality systems, and compliance processes. Experience managing business performance, including budgets, forecasting, proposals, contracts, vendor oversight, and portfolio-level planning. Advanced degree (MBA, Master's) or relevant certification (PMP), and experience developing business cases, growth strategies, or market assessments. For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
