Commercial Operations Team Lead

Job description

**About Legend** At Legend, we're building next-level player experiences. With 20+ years of proven success we’re the world's leading Sports and Gaming marketing company. Our people are our edge. 600+ sharp, ambitious Legends across 22+ countries who move fast, learn quickly and win together. Here growth isn’t a perk, it’s the standard. You’ll stretch, level-up and carve out a career as bold as the products we build. We celebrate wins and create experiences that people talk about for years - for our players & for each other. If you’re ready to shape the future of player experience and enjoy the ride while you do it, this is where you’ll thrive. ### The Role: Legend is hiring a Commercial Operations Team Lead to join our Commercial team and lead a talented team responsible for keeping the data and operational processes behind our partnerships running accurately, efficiently and at pace. This isn't a traditional Data Analyst role. It's an operations leadership role in a data-rich environment. You'll take ownership of a busy, deadline-driven operation, helping your team manage large volumes of commercial data accurately while continually looking for smarter ways to work. You'll spot bottlenecks, challenge inefficient processes and use automation, technology and AI to help us scale. Just as importantly, you'll lead the people behind the operation. We want someone who knows how to delegate, develop a team, protect their capacity and create an environment where people can perform at their best, even when things get busy. If you're the kind of leader who sees a complicated process and immediately starts thinking about how to make it simpler, faster and better, this could be a great opportunity for you. ### Your Impact: - Lead and develop a high-performing team, creating clear priorities, delegating effectively and building a positive culture where people feel supported, challenged and able to do their best work. - Own critical commercial operations cycles, ensuring large volumes of data are reviewed, processed and delivered accurately against demanding daily and monthly deadlines. - Make our operation smarter, identifying bottlenecks and manual processes and introducing improvements through better workflows, automation, AI and technology. - Get to the root of problems, spotting anomalies and investigating whether issues sit within data, mapping, logic or process before recommending practical solutions. - Manage competing priorities, understanding team capacity, escalating risks early and confidently challenging or reprioritising work when everything can't happen at once. - Help us scale, building processes that can handle increasing volume and complexity without relying on simply adding more people. ### What You'll Bring: - Strong people leadership experience within a fast-paced operations environment, with the ability to delegate, coach, motivate and manage a busy team rather than trying to do everything yourself. - A process-improvement mindset and examples of where you've simplified, automated or redesigned operational workflows to improve efficiency, quality or scalability. - Strong analytical and logical thinking. You don't need to be a Data Analyst or know SQL, but you should be comfortable working with large volumes of data, spotting trends and anomalies and investigating root causes. - Confidence working to tight deadlines and managing competing priorities, with the judgement to know what needs immediate attention, what can wait and when something needs escalating. - A proactive, solutions-focused approach. You don't just identify problems, you investigate them, bring ideas and help move things forward. - Confidence with Excel and operational systems, alongside the curiosity to learn new tools quickly and explore how technology and AI can improve the way your team works. ### Meet the Team: You'll manage a close-knit Commercial Operations team of around 7 people, with the team expected to grow to approximately 10, playing an important role in ensuring our commercial data is accurate and available when the wider business needs it. The team manages high-volume operational processes across our partner accounts, from reviewing and validating commercial data to identifying anomalies, maintaining accurate tagging and attribution, and supporting the wider Commercial organisation. There are important deadlines throughout every month, particularly around month-end, so this is a team that knows how to move quickly and deliver under pressure. They're also a team with plenty of opportunity ahead. As our business, partnerships and deal structures become more complex, we want to rethink how the operation works, removing unnecessary manual work, making better use of automation and AI, and giving the team more space to focus on the work that really adds value. That's where you'll come in. ### Where You'll Be: This role is based in Varna, Bulgaria, where we have a hybrid working model. **Varna Office:** 5th Floor, 19 Dimitar Ikonomov str., 9000 Varna, Bulgaria ### The Interview Process: We want our interview process to give you a genuine feel for the role, the team and the challenges you'll be taking on while giving us the opportunity to understand how you think, lead and solve problems. 1st: Initial chat with our Talent Partner – 30 minutes via Zoom 2nd: Interview with our Commercial Team – we'll explore your experience across people leadership, operations, process improvement and problem-solving through real examples and situational questions. 3rd: Take-Home Task - You'll be given a short take-home task based on realistic scenarios you could encounter in the role. Final: Task Discussion & Leadership Interview - You'll meet with our Head of Commercial Optimisation and People Partner to discuss your approach to the task and explore your leadership style, operational judgement and how you would approach some of the real challenges you'll face in the role. We'll give you everything you need to prepare ahead of each stage. ### Why Legend? - Super smart colleagues to work alongside and learn from. - Engaging development opportunities at all levels. - Tailored flexibility for your work-life balance. - Annual discretionary bonus to reward your efforts. - Paid annual leave PLUS a well-deserved break to recharge your batteries during the festive season!
