Compliance Officer

Job description

**About the role** IMC is a leading global market maker, providing liquidity on more than 100 venues across Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific. Our business is built on technology, research and the quality of our people, and on a strong culture of doing things properly in every market we trade. Our Aarhus office is IMC's newest European location and the base for our power and gas trading. It operates as a branch of IMC Trading B.V., an investment firm authorised and supervised by the Dutch AFM, so the desk works under the full MiFID II framework as well as the wholesale energy market rules. We are looking for an experienced Compliance Officer to join the Aarhus compliance function as its second member. You will work with the branch Compliance Officer and the European Compliance team in Amsterdam, London and Zug, and directly with traders, developers and management. The role is hands-on: you will own your own workstreams and be trusted to form and defend your own view. **Your Core Responsibilities:** - Assist with market abuse surveillance for the energy desk: review alerts, gather the facts from the desk and the data, and support investigations and any resulting reports. - Monitor the branch's regulatory reporting (MiFIR, REMIT, EMIR and position reporting), follow up on breaks with Technology and Middle Office and make sure corrections are reported on time. - Advise the desk on new products, venues and trading strategies as part of the new business process, and support algorithmic trading governance under IMC's Algorithmic Trading Policy and RTS 6. - Maintain the branch compliance framework: policies and procedures, Danish AML obligations, personal account dealing, training and attestations. - Support regulator, exchange and audit interaction: venue enquiries, AFM and Danish FSA requests, Internal Audit follow-ups and material for the Local Risk Committee. - Keep our compliance records and tracking in good order so that every decision can be evidenced **Your Skills and Experience:** - At least 5 years of compliance experience at a trading firm, energy trading company, exchange, regulator or consultancy, with working knowledge of MiFID II / MiFIR and MAR. Experience with REMIT and wholesale energy markets is a strong plus. - Experience with algorithmic trading controls under RTS 6, for example self assessments, change management or conformance testing, is a strong plus. - Exposure to trade surveillance or transaction reporting, and an understanding of what good evidence looks like. - Comfortable working with data: you can read a trade file or a report and spot what does not add up. - Independent judgement. You can push back on a trading desk with a clear rationale and explain your decisions to management and, when needed, to a regulator. Page 1 IMC Trading | Job Description - Clear, concise communication in English (our working language). Danish or Dutch is a plus. - Based in Aarhus or willing to relocate. **What we offer:** - Real ownership in a growing office: a small compliance function close to the desk and to management, not a seat in a large back office. - Direct exposure to energy markets, algorithmic trading and a European compliance team across four locations. - Competitive compensation and IMC's benefits package **About Us** *IMC is a research-driven trading firm where quantitative modeling, machine learning, and engineering shape how modern markets are traded. A stabilizing force in markets since 1989, we provide liquidity across trading venues, delivering the best outcome in value and risk management to investors. Using our own technology and capital, we build proprietary systems and algorithms that operate across global markets. Our researchers, traders, and engineers work as a collective, combining rapid experimentation, advanced infrastructure, and real-time feedback to turn insight into execution and execution into advantage.*
