Conference and Events Manager

Job description

As a Conference and Events Manager, you will play a key role in bringing exceptional events to life at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour. From the initial enquiry through to post-event follow-up, you will build strong client relationships, oversee seamless event delivery and ensure every experience reflects the service and sophistication synonymous with Sofitel. Reporting to the Director of Conference and Events, you will support the day-to-day operation of the Conference and Events function, inspiring the team to deliver outstanding service while driving commercial performance. A strong focus will be placed on maximising revenue through upselling, identifying new business opportunities, supporting forecasting and maintaining accurate reporting across Delphi and Opera. Working closely with Sales, Revenue, F&B, Banquets and other hotel departments, you will coordinate conferences, meetings, social events and group accommodation, ensuring every detail is communicated and delivered to the highest standard. You will prepare and oversee event documentation, proposals and contracts, host client meetings and site inspections, and act as the trusted point of contact throughout the client journey. Building and maintaining strong relationships will be at the heart of the role. You will develop connections with new and existing clients, Accor hotels, suppliers and industry partners, while actively seeking opportunities to grow repeat business and strengthen our position within the Sydney events market. You will also play an important role in developing our Ambassadors through coaching, training and day-to-day support, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture. As a champion of guest feedback and continuous improvement, you will use insights, market knowledge and commercial opportunities to continually elevate our Conference and Events offering. Above all, you will be an ambassador for Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour, bringing creativity, energy and a passion for excellence to every interaction, while creating memorable experiences for our clients, guests and Ambassadors. You are a confident and commercially minded hospitality professional with experience in Conference and Events, sales or a similar environment. You have a genuine passion for creating exceptional experiences and building strong, lasting client relationships. Highly organised and proactive, you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy planning and balancing multiple priorities to deliver seamless events from enquiry through to completion. You are commercially savvy, with a natural ability to identify opportunities, drive upselling and contribute to revenue growth. A strong communicator and team player, you will confidently collaborate across Sales, Revenue, F&B, Banquets and other hotel departments, while supporting and motivating your team to deliver exceptional service. Above all, you bring energy, ownership and a passion for luxury hospitality, with a desire to create memorable experiences for every client and guest at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour. If you’re ready to take the next step in your Conference and Events career, we would love to hear from you! As a valued Sofitel Ambassador, you will be immersed in a world of refined privileges and bespoke rewards. Enjoy privileged access to an international portfolio of luxury accommodation, exceptional dining, and curated lifestyle experiences. Daily touches of indulgence; from preferred-rate artisan coffee to a thoughtfully designed Ambassador dining menu, elevate the everyday. Your growth is equally important to us. Through our tailored learning and development opportunities through Accor & Sofitel we support your evolution as a leader and across the Accor network, with a culture that celebrates excellence, individuality and ambition. Located on Sydney’s vibrant waterfront, Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour is Sofitel’s flagship hotel in the Pacific, featuring 590 rooms and suites, four bars and restaurants, an award-winning infinity pool and luxury spa. At Sofitel, we’re passionate about creating distinctive experiences, celebrating individuality and bringing our French art de vivre to life. Behind every memorable guest experience is a strong brand, and we’re looking for a creative and commercially minded marketer to help shape how Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour is seen, experienced and remembered.
