Job description
A leading private hospital group in Bristol is seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join their Male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) ward on a part-time basis. The hospital offers a range of specialist services across 77 beds, including Eating Disorders, Acute Mental Health, Adult PICU, Acquired Brain Injury, Huntington’s, and Dementia. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients with complex needs and taking a lead role in their care and recovery. ### Key Responsibilities - Take clinical responsibility for patients on the Male PICU ward, including leading ward rounds, risk reviews, and care planning. - Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983). - Supervise referrals, admissions, and pre-admission assessments. - Provide psychiatric expertise to the multidisciplinary team in assessment, formulation, and treatment of adults. - Contribute to the development of a therapeutic environment that promotes wellbeing, dignity, and recovery. ### Requirements - GMC registration and inclusion on the Specialist Register. - Experience in adult psychiatry and PICU settings. - Strong teamwork and leadership skills. - Ability to work in a high-pressure, rewarding environment. ### Benefits - Flexible, part-time hours (30 per week). - Free on-site parking and supplemented meals. - 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays. - Birthday leave as an additional day. - Enhanced maternity pay and contributory pension scheme. - Flexible benefits including gym membership, IT equipment, and healthcare cash plan. - Access to training, professional development, and leadership opportunities. - Support for professional qualifications and CPD.
