Content Strategist

Job description

**Meet Ozow** Ozow is a leading fintech company that's redefining digital payments in South Africa and beyond. We're dedicated to making payments more accessible, secure, and convenient for both businesses and consumers. As a fast-growing player in the financial technology sector, Ozow fosters a culture of innovation, diversity, and inclusivity. We believe in pushing the boundaries of what's possible and are committed to making a positive impact on the world through our payment solutions. **More about this fantastic Ozow position** We are looking for a Content Strategist who writes, and writes with real depth. This is the role where strategic direction becomes finished content: you will take briefs from the Marketing Manager, do the research, write the work yourself across long-form, web, social and collateral, brief production out to our studio and partners, and own our social channels end to end. If you want to build genuine product and industry authority into a brand rather than maintain an existing content machine, this is that seat. **Your role and responsibilities** ***Writing and content creation*** - Write high-quality content directly across long-form pieces, white papers, case studies, web copy, social and supporting collateral - Produce work to a standard that can be interrogated and built on rather than rewritten - Translate a single content idea across multiple formats and channels without losing the substance of it ***Research and technical depth*** - Build content on real research rather than surface-level observation - Develop genuine understanding of the payments product and the broader industry, and reflect that understanding in the work - Write for a considered, knowledgeable and business audience that will notice the difference ***Contributing to content strategy*** - Contribute materially to the content strategy owned by the Marketing Manager - Interpret strategic briefs and determine how they are best executed across channels - Work closely with the Marketing Manager to refine and sharpen the content approach ***Production briefing and management*** - Unpack strategic briefs into specific, actionable design, animation and video briefs - Manage delivery through our internal studio and external production partners - Keep production moving to deadline alongside a continuous content demand ***Social media channel management*** - Own publishing and scheduling across Ozow's owned channels - Run community management and respond to engagement in the brand voice - Report on channel performance and adjust the approach accordingly ***Performance reporting and measurement*** - Report on content and channel performance against campaign and funnel metrics - Use available performance data covering lead volume, conversion, transaction rates and revenue to inform what gets written next - Apply what the numbers show rather than repeating what has always been done ***Tool utilisation and ways of working*** - Use work management tools for brief intake, delivery tracking and production visibility - Keep content processes, brand voice guidance and documentation current and usable - Support the adoption of new systems and tools within the marketing function ***Automation and AI*** - Apply AI tools thoughtfully in research, drafting and repurposing, without compromising accuracy or voice - Identify and automate repetitive steps in content production, publishing and reporting - Stay close to developments in content and marketing technology and bring useful ideas into the team **You are an ideal candidate if you have** - A relevant marketing, communications or journalism qualification - A demonstrable portfolio of written content across multiple formats, including long-form - Clear evidence of technical or product depth in your writing, not only brand or lifestyle content - Experience writing for a considered, knowledgeable or business audience - Experience developing briefs for design, animation or video production - Hands-on social media channel management experience, including publishing, reporting and community management - 2+ years experience - B2B content experience, or clear evidence that you can work well in a B2B context - A background in payments, fintech, SaaS, technology or another complex-product sector - Formal technical writing experience or a technical writing background - 3+ years experience - Writing of briefs for design, other content writers, and video production - Case study and thought leadership writing specifically - Familiarity with work management tools for brief intake and delivery tracking - Experience working alongside an internal studio or design function **Your skills and competencies** - You eagerly embrace change, absorb cross-functional skills, and connect ideas across disciplines to drive fresh thinking and innovation. - Ability to initiate, develop, maintain and leverage outstanding relationships to influence a wide network, both inside and outside the company. - A trailblazer who steps up, takes charge, and creates meaningful impact—those driven by performance and purpose to lead from the front and make a real difference every day. - You thrive in collaboration, embrace inclusion, and bring a genuine curiosity for global cultures—valuing collective success over individual credit. - Demonstrate strategic foresight, sound judgement, and the ability to make confident decisions under uncertainty, always working toward the best possible outcomes. - You challenge norms, champion innovation, and constantly seek growth—for themselves, their team, and the solutions they build. - You are a decisive doer—those who take initiative, follow through with confidence, and ensure results through courageous, hands-on leadership. - We value optimism, agility, and the strength to persevere under pressure—balancing performance with positivity, even in challenging environments. - You are driven, proactive individuals who take ownership, face challenges with grit, and consistently push for excellence—not just as participants, but as catalysts for success. **Interview process** During the interview process you will meet with the People team, the hiring manager, and relevant CSuite. Our process may include psychometric and technical assessments, giving you an opportunity to demonstrate your strengths, skills and potential beyond your CV and interview. **In office perks** - Healthy breakfast, lunches and snacks - Monthly team connects - On-site Barista **Perks for South African based employees** - Medical aid subsidy - Group Risk Insurance - Generous paid annual leave - Birthday leave - Learning and Development opportunities - Mentorship programme - Quarterly team building - Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) - Community initiatives - Access to cutting edge technology - [Ozow Tech Stack](https://ozow.com/tech-stack) **Our Employee Value Proposition** At Ozow, we don't just process payments. We back you to own what you deliver and how you grow, and we recognise the people who lift others, not just themselves. Due to the sensitive nature of our work, we require individuals with a high level of integrity and trustworthiness to ensure adherence to financial regulations and industry standards. Given the sensitive nature of our work, all employees are expected to demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to ethical conduct in line with financial regulations and industry standards **Ready to be exceptional?Apply now!** **Keen to know more?** Interested in joining our rocket ship?
