Controller

Job description

**About Us** Greenbrook Medical is building the new standard in primary care. We deliver high-touch, relationship-based care through neighborhood clinics, grounded in a simple belief: every senior deserves the kind of care we would want for our own families. Our model prioritizes time with patients, strong care coordination, and a personalized approach that improves outcomes while lowering total cost of care. We take full accountability for patient outcomes and overall cost of care, aligning clinical excellence with disciplined execution. That commitment shows up in our results, including a patient Net Promoter Score of 90, compared to 32 for typical healthcare organizations. Rooted in Tampa Bay and partnered with Tampa General Hospital, we are entering an exciting phase of growth. Backed by strong unit economics, experienced operators, and a proven playbook, we are looking for builders and operators who want to help scale a healthcare platform designed to deliver better care, better coordination, and better outcomes for seniors. **About the Role** As our Controller, you will own Greenbrook Medical’s end-to-end accounting function and build the financial foundation that enables the company to scale. This is not a traditional accounting role focused only on closing the books. You will be accountable for the integrity of our financial reporting and own the systems, processes, and controls that support our accounting operations, financial compliance, and continued growth. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will lead core accounting operations, including the close and financial reporting processes, while strengthening the financial infrastructure needed to support a fast-growing, multi-clinic healthcare organization. You will partner across the organization to bring order to complexity, improve how we operate, and ensure leaders have accurate and reliable financial information to make better decisions. Build Scalable Financial Systems and Controls: You will build the financial infrastructure and controls environment needed to support Greenbrook’s continued growth. - Design and maintain scalable accounting processes, internal controls, approval workflows, and financial policies. - Own core accounting operations, including accounts payable, procure-to-pay, cash accounting, bank reconciliations, payroll accounting, corporate cards, expense management, and related balance sheet processes. - Partner with the VP of Finance to establish spend approval policies and ensure company spending is appropriately authorized and aligned with approved budgets. - Own and continuously improve the accounting systems and financial technology stack, identifying opportunities to automate manual processes and improve efficiency and data quality. - Assess accounting resource needs and build the appropriate combination of internal talent, external partners, systems, and processes as Greenbrook scales. Partner on Value-Based Care and Business Performance You will bring strong financial discipline to Greenbrook’s value-based care model and partner with leaders to improve business performance. - Own and improve financial processes related to risk contracts, including payer settlements, contestations, cost reallocations, stop-loss activity, and reserve fund reconciliations. - Partner with Revenue Operations, Population Health, and clinical teams to ensure payer and financial data are complete, accurate, and appropriately reflected in the financial statements. - Partner with the VP of Finance on budgeting, forecasting, budget-to-actual reporting, variance analysis, and financial planning. - Provide financial and accounting insights that help leaders understand performance, manage spending, and improve financial accountability. - Support the financial evaluation of new clinics, markets, payer arrangements, health system partnerships, and other growth initiatives. **What Success Looks Like** - Financial reporting is accurate, timely, and trusted by leadership. - The monthly close process becomes faster, cleaner, and more scalable. - Tax, audit, and compliance requirements are proactively managed, with clear ownership and no missed deadlines. - Finance systems, processes, and controls support growth rather than slow it down. - Spend decisions are disciplined and aligned with company priorities. - Managed care financial operations are accurate, organized, and proactively managed. - Leadership has the visibility needed to make confident operating decisions. **About You** You bring: - 8-12 years of accounting and financial operations experience across corporate or multi-entity environments. - 3-5 years owning core accounting functions including close, financial reporting, audits, reconciliations, tax compliance, and financial controls. - Experience managing outsourced finance partners such as bookkeeping, payroll, tax, benefits provider, or other accounting providers, while maintaining internal accountability for their work. - Strong technical accounting skills with a track record of improving accuracy, efficiency, and operational rigor. - Experience building and improving processes, systems, and controls in environments where things are evolving quickly. - Experience with accounting systems and financial technology, including implementing, upgrading, or optimizing ERP and related finance tools. - Strong attention to detail with the ability to balance precision with speed. - Clear communication skills and the ability to partner effectively across the organization with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
