Credit Risk Manager - Business Lending (on-site)

Job description

Your role Energy Loans installers juggle uneven cash flows: suppliers get paid long before customers pay. Cloover closes that gap with financing that fits how installers actually work. You’ll be the risk voice that makes those deals smarter, with your own approval mandate and a lean, automated process behind you. You’ll report to the Risk Lead and work within a team of 4. Underwriting and portfolio management bring you their toughest cases, and you bring the independent risk view. Your mission Decide escalated B2B credit files with well-argued, defensible calls, on time. Pressure-test underwriting proposals and catch red flags, like negative equity or liquidity stress, before they hit the book. Help build a credit risk strategy that keeps delinquencies and installer operational risk low. Turn what you learn from escalations into sharper rules, so more decisions go straight through. Build and own the SME quality assurance framework: visible, consistent, improving every quarter. Shape the risk agenda with the team, bringing an operator’s view on what Cloover can leverage to win. Your profile We care more about how you think and what you’ve built than where you’ve been. Here’s what will set you up for success in this role: 5+ years of hands-on B2B or SME lending experience, from working capital lines to project financing. Structured or trade finance is a plus. Holds a degree in finance, economics, business administration, accounting or a quantitative field such as mathematics or statistics. Reads financials, credit reports and ratings fluently, and explains in a few lines why a deal works or doesn’t. Has held an approval mandate or given credit second opinions, and makes confident calls on incomplete information. Shapes the right yes instead of just holding the line, and says no clearly when nothing works. Thinks in data and processes, and gets excited about what AI can automate. Based in Berlin and energized by being in the room. We’re intentionally office-first: decisions get made in real time, prototypes get stress-tested over lunch, and the founding team is ten meters away. If that’s how you thrive, you’ll feel at home here. Speaks German at B2 level or above, enough to read financial statements and credit documents. Nice to have: SQL, Python or R Don’t meet every requirement? Apply anyway. We hire for potential and perspective. Credentials are a starting point, not a ceiling. How we hire We keep things transparent and respect your time. Most go from first call to offer in under three weeks. Intro call (30 min): We want to understand what you’re looking for, not just screen your CV. Hiring manager interview (30 min): We go deep into your experience, your thinking, and how you approach problems. Case study (1 hour): You get the brief in advance. We care about your approach, not whether you land on the right answer. Offer & signed contract. Need any adjustments at any stage? Just let us know. Why us? Performance pay. Strong base tied to outcomes, recognised when it happens rather than locked behind annual cycles. AI-first & unthrottled. Unlimited enterprise-grade AI, no caps, no approval process. Every role, every team. The grunt work disappears so you can focus on what actually requires human judgement. Real ownership on a real mission. From day one you’re shaping decisions that impact thousands of installers. We’re not just building software. We’re powering the energy transition across Europe. Grow faster than anywhere else. You’ll work directly alongside the founding team and world-class investors. If you’re building toward your own venture one day, there’s no better room to be in.
