Overview: Job Description Summary: Assists in providing dental care to pediatric patients by preparing treatment rooms, taking x-rays, assisting dentists, and educating patients and parents. Job Description: Essential Functions: Prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols. Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient. Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments. Provides materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth. Documents dental care services by charting in patient records. Education Requirement: Graduate of an accredited dental assistant training program or the equivalent in applicable experience, required. Licensure Requirement: Licensed to practice dental radiography in the State of Ohio within two weeks of hire, required. Skills: Robust communication skills, required. Demonstratedability to treat and teach healthy and medically compromised patients. Possesses good manual dexterity. Abilityto monitor nitrous oxide and patient after analgesia is administered. Experience: Two years of experience as a chairside assistant, required.
