Job description

Founded in 1856 by Thomas Burberry, Burberry is a global luxury brand with a distinctly British attitude. We are a global business with an extensive network of both owned and franchised stores across EMEIA, Asia Pacific and Americas. We are digital pioneers, and innovative technology underpins every aspect of our business, from product design to distribution and marketing. We believe that modern luxury means being socially and environmentally responsible; this mindset is core to our business and key to our long-term success. We are hiring a Department Manager to play a key leadership role within our retail team, supporting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in delivering an exceptional customer experience and driving commercial success. In a store of approximately 40 colleagues including BOH and FOH, you will create an environment where people can perform at their best, grow their capabilities, and bring Burberry's values to life every day. This role combines operational excellence, people leadership and client engagement, ensuring the highest standards across the customer journey. Through your leadership, you will help shape a culture of creativity, collaboration and service excellence. Lead, inspire and develop a team of colleagues, creating a high-performing and inclusive culture. Partner with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to deliver commercial objectives and elevate the customer experience. Drive performance through effective coaching, development planning and regular feedback conversations. Ensure operational excellence across stock management, compliance, visual presentation and service standards. Champion client engagement initiatives that build meaningful customer relationships and support long-term loyalty. Use business insights and performance data to identify opportunities, optimise results and support departmental growth. Experience leading large teams within a fast-paced retail, hospitality or customer-focused environment. Strong people leadership skills with a passion for coaching, developing and empowering others. Commercially aware with the ability to interpret business performance and take action to drive results. Collaborative and adaptable, with confidence working across multiple stakeholders and priorities. Customer-focused with a commitment to delivering exceptional and personalised service. Organised and solution-oriented, with the ability to maintain high standards while managing competing demands. Burberry is an Equal Opportunities Employer and as such, treats all applications equally and recruits purely on the basis of skills and experience.
