DevOps Engineer

Job description

# **Join our mission** **We're proud to work with many incredible companies, accelerating their ability to build their products.** We've spent years watching talented engineering teams lose momentum to the same frustrating bottleneck: waiting. Waiting for CI to finish. Waiting for builds to complete. Waiting for tests to run. After experiencing this pain firsthand at companies of every size, we set out to build the developer infrastructure platform we'd always wanted to use. Something that would seamlessly integrate with our workflows and the tools teams already love—but make everything dramatically faster and more cost-effective. Today, we're already accelerating hundreds of companies around the world, helping them ship features instead of waiting for infrastructure. We've built something that feels almost magical in its simplicity: change your `runs-on` line, mount your toolchain cache directory and suddenly your builds are 5x faster. ## **About the role** Namespace's approach is low-friction, designed for immediate integration into existing developer toolchains, empowering teams to experience tangible results within just five minutes. With an end-to-end stack optimized for high performance—including compute, memory, storage, and networking—Namespace delivers capabilities and efficiencies unmatched by traditional cloud providers. As a DevOps Engineer at Namespace, you'll build and operate the infrastructure that makes this performance possible. You'll own the compute, storage, and networking behind every build our customers run, keeping the platform fast, reliable, and cost-effective as we accelerate more companies around the world. ## **Our culture** We're looking for people with grit—people who push through ambiguity, take ownership, and keep going when things get hard. You're deeply curious, driven to understand how things work and how they can be improved. Most importantly, you have a strong bias to execution: you don't wait for perfect conditions, you ship, learn, and iterate quickly. If you care about building, moving fast, and making real impact, you'll fit right in. **What you'll do** - Own the reliability, performance, and scalability of the infrastructure that runs every customer’s build, test, and CI job on Namespace. - Optimize performance across compute, memory, storage, and networking. - Automate provisioning, deployment, scaling, and recovery across our fleet. - Build observability, alerting, and incident response processes that identify and resolve issues before they affect customers. - Drive capacity planning and cost efficiency, so we continue to deliver infrastructure that is both faster and more cost-effective. - Collaborate closely with product engineers to ship new capabilities quickly and safely. **What we're looking for** - Strong engineering fundamentals and hands-on experience operating production infrastructure at scale. - Deep knowledge of Linux, networking, and storage, plus experience with tools like Kubernetes, Terraform, or similar. - Proficiency in Go, Python, or a similar language, automation is paramount. - Deep experience with observability tooling and participating in on-call rotations. - A strong focus on performance and a rigorous approach to measuring and improving it. - Bonus: experience with bare metal, virtualization (KVM, Firecracker), or running CI/CD systems at scale. **You can expect:** - Competitive salary and stock options - Flexible working hours - Market-leading parental leave **Life at Namespace Labs:** - We pride ourselves in being a small team of experts that can achieve a lot. - We balance our long-term vision with short-term pragmatism. - We believe in being fully transparent internally on how decisions are made, on how the company is doing, and we use that information to drive our decisions.
