DevOps Engineer | Mid-Senior | Infra

Job description

## **At NordLayer, we’re building cybersecurity that scales with the business.** A toggle-ready platform that helps modern teams thrive-without the security headaches. Trusted by 11,000+ global companies, NordLayer plugs into any tech stack and protects users across borders. **Your impact?** Helping businesses stay protected and moving forward with future-ready network security. We're looking for a **DevOps Engineer to join our SRE team** who's just as comfortable debugging a kernel-level networking issue as writing a clean Terraform module - someone who wants to help evolve real infrastructure at scale, not maintain a green-field lab. ## **Main Responsibilities** - Design, build, and maintain hybrid infrastructure spanning our on-prem bare-metal fleet and AWS cloud environment; - Build and evolve Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform and Terragrunt) and configuration management (Puppet/Ansible) across both environments; - Maintain and improve the platform's network stack - routing, load balancing, tunneling, and security features; - Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI) supporting infrastructure and platform delivery; - Participate in incident response and contribute to postmortems, helping improve reliability practices over time; - Explore and apply AI tools to reduce toil and improve automation, tooling, and incident response across the team; - Collaborate cross-functionally with Product and other engineering teams to translate business needs into infrastructure solutions; - Bring your own ideas - this team wants engineers who improve how we work, not just execute a backlog. ## **Core Requirements** - 3+ years of hands-on Linux systems/infrastructure experience; - Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (IPv4, routing, bridging, proxies, DNS); - Practical, production experience with AWS - Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform); - CI/CD pipeline experience (GitLab CI preferred); - Comfortable scripting (Bash and Python) to automate operational work. - Genuine enthusiasm for AI tools and workflows, with hands-on experience applying them to real infrastructure work (e.g. automation, incident response, tooling). ## **Bonus Points For** - Experience writing and maintaining reusable Terraform modules; - Configuration management experience with Puppet and/or Ansible; - Experience with unix network tools and tunneling protocols (iptables, nftables, OpenVPN, IPSec, WireGuard, Bind/PowerDNS); - Applied cybersecurity principles (least privilege, defense in depth, secrets management). - Experience with container/virtualization environments (Docker, LXC, microVMs, ECS); - AWS certification (SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect Associate); - Experience with Terragrunt. ## **Tools You Will Use** - Python - Bash - Linux - Puppet - Ansible - Terraform - Terragrunt - AWS - GitLab/GitLab CI - HashiCorp Vault and Consul. ## **What We Offer** - **Sharpen your edge:** training, mentorship, and room to grow — always. - **Take the time you need:** extra vacation days, sick days, and time off when life calls. - **Get premium healthcare:** private health insurance in Lithuania and Poland — fully covered. - **Protect your peace:** enjoy free subscriptions to Calm, Headspace, and Mindletic, and our own resilience and mindfulness trainings. - **Own your fitness:** in-house gyms, sport cards, online workouts, and personal guidance — on us. - **Pack your bags for workation:** experience our company-wide trip abroad to the fullest. - **Work from anywhere:** work from wherever keeps you in the zone. - **Celebrate your milestones:** birthdays, weddings, and new family members — all deserve a gift. - **Parent with ease:** children’s summer camps and flexibility around the schedule — because parenting never pauses. - **Join the party:** team building and company events people talk about for months. - **Unlock Cyber City:** coffee bar, open gyms, kids’ room, music room, massage chairs — our Vilnius HQ is yours to enjoy. *Kindly refer to our* [*Privacy Notice for Recruitment Candidates*](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1b2tV684_SYV1jQ4kuf91cnzrRBk3ef-5/view) *for comprehensive information regarding our data handling procedures throughout recruitment processes.* *We expect all candidates to provide accurate and complete information during the recruitment process.
