The Opportunity As a Assistant Director - Backend Engineer , you will: Lead the design and development of APIs, data access layers, and integrations. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making. Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Frontend, and Data teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. 9+ years of professional experience in backend development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or mentoring capacity. Expertise in building backend services and APIs using .NET/C# or Python . Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB). Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines , automated testing, and code reviews. Working knowledge of Azure Cloud , containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes). Familiarity with messaging and event streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus). Solid understanding of security fundamentals and observability practices. Preferred Skills Experience with microservices , DDD, CQRS, and event-driven architectures. Exposure to GraphQL, gRPC, API gateways. Performance optimization and caching strategies (Redis). Background in regulated environments or financial services. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep). Proven ability to lead distributed teams and drive technical excellence. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership: Guide design reviews, mentor team members, and enforce coding standards. Service & API Development: Architect and implement robust APIs and backend services. Quality & Reliability: Ensure high test coverage, implement CI/CD, and maintain observability.
