Director, Regional HR Lead - AU & Poland

Job description

**Position Location: Nearmap is considering candidates based in Sydney, Australia, who live within reasonable commuting distance of our Barangaroo office. This position follows a hybrid work arrangement, requiring employees to work onsite three days per week , with the flexibility to work remotely on the remaining two days. About the Role Reporting to the CHRO, our Regional Lead will balance global consistency with local execution as a member of our People & Culture SLT. You’ll be the go-to People partner for our Australian and Polish employees and managers, coaching leaders, guiding them through everyday and complex people matters, and shaping how our culture develops as we grow. This is a role with room to grow. You’ll work across the full range of People work, from performance and change to culture, programs and workplace experience, and you’ll build the regional leadership experience to grow into a broader Regional role over time. Your Regional facilities teams, with dedicated Workplace Ops Managers in both locations, will report to you and help you shape our employee experience. You’ll also partner closely with our Global Business Partner, People Ops and Talent Acquisition teams, and lead programs with global impact, including our ESG Strategy. What You'll Do Translate global People strategy into regional plans that reflect local market, cultural and legal context. Coach and advise leaders and managers, including on employment legislation in Australia and Poland, with practical, solutions-focused guidance. Support performance and development end-to-end (probation reviews, PIPs, feedback, exit conversations), building a culture of high performance and clear accountability. Handle employee relations matters, including investigations, restructures and redundancies, with timely advice and support from the CHRO and external counsel where needed. Stay current on legislative requirements and keep our policies and practices compliant with local law and our Code of Conduct. Spot operational gaps and risks, then develop and maintain local policies and best practices that fit our business goals. Own global programs, including our ESG strategy, as a member of the P&C SLT. Partner with People Ops on payroll, onboarding and offboarding, and use People data and trends to inform strategy and drive continuous improvement. Shape our engagement and culture strategy for your regions with the Workplace Ops Managers, championing Nearmap’s culture and values. About You You’re a trusted advisor and relationship builder. People bring you their toughest problems because you listen first, then help chart the right course of action. You keep everyone in the loop along the way, building the kind of trust that makes leaders turn to you again and again. You’re a change navigator. Ambiguity doesn’t rattle you, it energises you. You can walk into a messy, evolving situation and find the thread that turns chaos into a clear path forward. You’re a balance-keeper. You know when to hold the line on policy and when to flex for the human on the other side of it. You bring empathy and rigour to every call, never sacrificing one for the other. You’re an operator with vision. You’re just as comfortable rolling up your sleeves on the details as you are shaping the bigger strategy. You connect the dots between what’s happening today and where the business needs to go. You’re a proactive self-starter. You don’t wait to be asked, you spot what needs doing and bring the energy to get it moving. Whether it’s a quick win or a long slog, you show up ready and pull others along with you. What You'll Bring Bachelor’s degree preferred. 8+ years in People & Culture, HR Business Partner, HR Manager or Senior HR roles, ideally in a fast-paced growth company. Experience leading a team is a plus. Working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, with hands-on experience handling ER matters from identification through resolution. Experience with investigations, restructures and coaching managers is highly valued. Poland experience is a bonus. Experience identifying organisational needs and rolling out programs that improve capability, performance and culture. Strong relationship-building and coaching skills across diverse stakeholders, with sound judgment, discretion and confidentiality. Excellent written, verbal and visual communication and organisational skills. You can juggle priorities, keep accurate documentation and meet deadlines with attention to detail. Confident with a range of IT systems, including Microsoft Office, and quick to learn new tools. Ambition to grow your career and build your future at Nearmap.
