Draftsman

Job description

ABOUT BeeX BeeX is building the world's most advanced Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (HAUVs). BeeX specialises in providing autonomous robotics solutions to safeguard underwater infrastructure in the maritime, energy and defense sectors, reducing over 90% of carbon emissions. We are pioneering Autonomous Robotics-as-a-Service (ARaaS) on a global scale, supported by decades of operational experiences in harsh waters. With unprecedented efficiency, we strive to provide our customers with a one-point solution for asset integrity management -- protecting assets they value, making sure they stay safe. WHY JOIN US NOW The industries we serve need new ways to overcome their current challenges, and BeeX is delivering exactly that. Creating anything new is very hard. To do this, we need outstanding people. At BeeX, everyone is dependent; united by enthusiasm for bold innovation. Our multi-disciplinary team thrives in dynamic environments, driving transformative advancements globally. Your progress at BeeX depends largely on you, not some arbitrary corporate ladder. You will be exposed to different aspects of Deeptech, from design to commercialisation. Join us to make a meaningful impact on the world! Your role As a Draftsman, you are responsible for turning engineering concepts for our A.IKANBILIS (AIB) and Betta Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (HAUV) models into accurate, build-ready 3D models, 2D drawings and BOMs. The role is centred on CAD modelling, manufacturing drawings and design support — ensuring every part and assembly released to the workshop or vendors can be built right the first time. Beyond individual drawings, you are also expected to maintain accurate revision and part records, manage engineering changes, and work with the engineering team to refine designs that improve manufacturability, reliability and consistency across both vehicle models. Your daily schedule will include frequent interactions with a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical, electrical and software engineers, as well as external vendors, and you need to be equally comfortable working hands-on in the workshop, supporting sea trials and at a normal desk in the office. You will report directly to the Engineering Leads. Job Scope Drafting and CAD Produce and maintain 3D models, assemblies and 2D manufacturing drawings for AIB and Betta parts, including pressure hulls, thruster mounts, frames, brackets and machined fittings. Apply GD&T, tolerancing and drawing standards so machinists, 3D-print vendors and sheet-metal fabricators can build parts first time. Prepare assembly drawings, exploded views and wiring harness / cable routing layouts with the electrical team. Convert engineer sketches, markups and redlines into released drawings. Engineering support Support mechanical engineers with design iterations, fit checks, interference checks and simple calculations (weight, buoyancy, volume). Select standard parts such as fasteners, O-rings, connectors and crimps, and check material suitability for subsea use. Help assemble, test and troubleshoot prototypes and production units in the workshop, and capture lessons back into the design. Support pool tests, sea trials or client site work when required. Documentation and configuration control Create and maintain BOMs, part numbers and revision history for both vehicle models. Manage engineering change requests and keep the drawing library and PDM / file structure up to date. Prepare RFQ drawing packs and liaise with vendors on quotes, manufacturability and inspection of received parts. Contribute to assembly instructions, maintenance manuals and technical documentation for clients. Requirements Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Marine or related engineering. 1–3 years of drafting or junior design experience; fresh graduates with a strong CAD portfolio are welcome. Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred; Fusion 360, Inventor or Creo considered) and 2D drawing production. Working knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawing standards (ISO / ASME) and common manufacturing processes (CNC machining, 3D printing, sheet metal). Careful, organised approach to revision control and documentation. Comfortable working hands-on in a workshop. Good to have Experience with subsea, marine, robotics or other sealed / pressure-rated products. Familiarity with PDM tools, BOM management or an ERP system such as Odoo. Basic FEA or simulation experience. Exposure to electrical harness drawings, connectors, crimping or soldering. Remuneration Package Market competitive salary Growth opportunities that align with your direct ability in helping the company, rather than an arbitrary corporate ladder Healthcare support Special access to industry events Well-stocked pantry with nice snacks Support for skills upgrading / learning credits
