# Driver/ Field Assistant > International Institute of Tropical Agriculture(IITA) · Freetown, Sierra Leone · Contract · Posted 2026-06-25 **Workplace:** on_site **Department:** NRS ## Description **Position: Driver/ Field Assistant** **Contract:** 2-year renewable contract **Location: Freetown, Sierra Leone** The Driver/ Field Assistant will _convey staff and partners to different locations within and outside the station for official activities, drive and maintain official vehicles efficiently as instructed by supervisor._ **Closing Date:- 23 March 2026** **DUTIES** - Carry out driving duties as instructed by the Supervisor. - Assist Field supervisors with field activities including field plot establishment and data collection. - Drive vehicle within and outside duty station to transport personnel, materials and supplies including out of hours, weekends and or public holidays as required. - Record all vehicle logbooks which includes mileage, maintenance history and fuel consumption. - Report potential mechanical faults on vehicles as soon as they are discovered. - Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and ensure that all vehicles are fueled when due. - Provide support to Technical Officers during field assignments. - Perform any other job-related task as may be assigned by the Supervisor. ## Requirements **QUALIFICATION:** National Diploma in any related course with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience or O’ Level with a minimum of six (6) years’ experience performing similar role in a well-structured environment.
