The role evaluates project feasibility, engages stakeholders, and provides reporting, training, and guidance to achieve reduced environmental impact and long-term operational savings. KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS Provide engineering support to operators on plant, equipment, and systems to enhance sustainability Conduct and evaluate engineering design of plant, equipment, and systems to ensure sustainability Support sustainability initiatives, including investigation, motivation, budgeting, execution and re-evaluation Identify, assess risks and develop strategies to mitigate risk factors Identify and implement continuous improvements in efficiency and effectiveness Manage internal and external stakeholder relations and service delivery Manage resource allocation and utilisation Support the Industrial Control Manager with all SCADA-related requirements REQUIRED EDUCATION ESSENTIAL EDUCATION NQF 6, National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical). DESIRED EDUCATION Bachelor’s in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical) REQUIRED EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE Engineering Experience in a Hospital Environment (Maintenance and projects) Energy Auditor or equivalent DESIRED EXPERIENCE Engineering design and project management experience Certified Energy Manager REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Engineering proficiency in areas of responsibility Proven track record in environmental sustainability assessments and consumption reduction methods Proven track record of renewable energy plants and systems Computer literacy in MS Office (SAP PM’s would be advantageous) Strong knowledge and application of risk management and control Proficiency in designing, planning, organising, and managing sustainability projects, from conception to completion, while ensuring they are completed within allocated timeframes and budgetary constraints Financial planning/budgeting Systems implementation All applicants will be considered, with the understanding that preference will be given in accordance with the Employment Equity Plan of Mediclinic Southern Africa, as well as internal applicants/employees that meet the minimum requirements.
