Job description
**About Thea Energy:** Thea Energy is leveraging recent breakthroughs in stellarator physics and engineering to create a faster and simpler approach to commercializing fusion energy. The company is reinventing the stellarator using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils thereby replacing the intricate, complex modular magnets required in all other stellarator architectures. Thea Energy is on a mission to create a limitless source of zero emission energy for a sustainable future. ### Key Responsibility Areas: - Build, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems - Assist in developing new equipment, tools, procedures, and inspection techniques to reduce production time while maintaining high quality - Responsible for tool and workspace organization and maintenance - Assemble and troubleshoot test articles and supporting test equipment - Collaborate to support development of manufacturing processes and tooling ### Required Experience & Skillsets: - High-school diploma or equivalent - 5+ years of experience in shop fabrication, manufacturing, research, or high-tech industry - 5+ years of technical experience with any of the following:mechanical or electrical systems, high pressure or high vacuum systems, cryogenic systems, plumbing, soldering, system testing, power or controls systems - Comfortable working to aggressive deadlines and exceptional work ethic - Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite tools or similar software ### Ideal Experience: - Knowledge of quality control and inspection procedures - Experience operating, maintaining, or troubleshooting or programming automation equipment, e.g. PLC, HMI, or process controllers - Experience with reflow solder processes, including PCBA manufacturing - Crane or lifting experience - Forklift experience - Experience with electrical schematic and wiring - Experience using various types of hand tools and precision measuring tools - Experience in documenting, improving, and implementing process instructions - Experience with reading and reviewing mechanical drawings - Experience with machining, operating manual milling, saws, and other tools ### Company Benefits: - Hourly rate $30-43/hr - Comprehensive health benefits (e.g. medical/dental/vision) - Employee equity stock options - 20 days PTO ### Requirements: - Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. - Ability to perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time. - Willingness to occasionally travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call. - Ability to work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics.
