We are looking for a Finance Manager – Leases to lead lease accounting operations, oversee a shared services team, ensure compliance with IFRS 16 requirements, and deliver accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting across Optus' extensive lease portfolio. This role will play a key part in driving operational excellence, strengthening governance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Make an Impact by: 1. Team Leadership & Operational Management Lead, coach, and develop a team of Finance Executives responsible for lease accounting operations. Allocate and prioritise workloads to ensure timely delivery of month-end activities and business requirements. Review work outputs to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with accounting standards. Provide technical guidance on lease accounting, SAP RE-FX, and IFRS 16. Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture. 2. Lease Accounting & Master Data Governance Oversee lease creation, amendments, renewals, and terminations within SAP RE-FX. Ensure accuracy and integrity of lease master data across the lease portfolio. Review complex lease transactions and approve sensitive master data updates. Drive data quality initiatives through reconciliation, validation, and continuous monitoring. Identify systemic data issues and implement sustainable improvements. 3. Financial Reporting & Month-End Close Lead month-end lease accounting activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial close. Review lease liabilities, right-of-use assets, depreciation, and interest calculations. Analyse financial results, identify key movements, and provide meaningful business insights. Support management reporting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis. Drive automation and reporting enhancements to improve operational efficiency. 4. Stakeholder Management & Service Delivery Build strong relationships with Finance, Property, Network, Procurement, and external landlords. Act as the primary escalation point for complex lease and payment enquiries. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve operational issues and improve service delivery. Ensure stakeholder expectations are managed through timely communication and responsiveness. 5. Process Improvement & Governance Identify and implement process improvement opportunities across lease accounting operations. Support SAP RE-FX enhancements, testing, and user acceptance activities. Maintain robust internal controls, documentation, and standard operating procedures. Ensure compliance with IFRS 16, company policies, and audit requirements. Champion continuous improvement, automation, and operational excellence. Skills for Success Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline. Professional accounting qualification (completed or in progress) is an advantage. Approximately 5–6 years of relevant experience in financial accounting, preferably in lease accounting or a shared services environment. Strong knowledge of IFRS 16 and lease accounting principles. Experience with SAP RE-FX or similar ERP systems. Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing teams. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial reporting skills. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes.
