Forward Deployed Engineer, UK

Job description

**About Persona** [Persona](https://withpersona.com/) is the configurable identity platform built for businesses in a digital-first world. Verifying individuals and organizations is harder — but more important — than ever, with AI enabling fraudsters to launch sophisticated accounts at scale and regulations evolving rapidly. We’ve built Persona to support practically every use case and industry — that’s why we’re able to serve a wide range of leading companies. For example, Reddit relies on Persona for age assurance and verification to comply with online safety regulations, protecting younger users while maintaining a seamless experience. Meanwhile, OpenAI relies on Persona to keep bad actors out, protecting one of the world’s most powerful AI platforms from large-scale abuse in a time when AI is reshaping the way we work and live. We’re growing rapidly and looking for exceptional people to join us! **About the Role** As Persona’s first Forward Deployed Engineer in the UK, you’ll help customers turn complex identity challenges into practical solutions. You’ll partner with our Solutions Engineering, Sales and Customer Success teams across the customer journey - from technical discovery and proofs of concept to building integrations and launching solutions. This is an opportunity for someone with a strong technical foundation who enjoys building software, solving problems and working directly with customers. You don’t need prior expertise in identity verification, but you should be comfortable writing code, navigating APIs and owning technical projects. You’ll develop a deep understanding of our platform through hands-on work and close collaboration with customers and teammates. As part of our growing UK presence, you’ll also help shape how we share knowledge, deliver customer solutions and onboard future teammates. **What you’ll do at Persona** - **Build customer solutions.** Help translate customer needs into practical solutions using Persona’s APIs, integrations and workflows. - **Support technical discovery and proofs of concept.** Partner with Sales and Solutions Engineering to understand customer requirements, prepare tailored demonstrations and build working prototypes. - **Help customers launch successfully.** Work with customer engineering teams to configure, test and implement solutions, with support from experienced teammates. - **Investigate technical challenges.** Troubleshoot integration issues, explore potential solutions and collaborate with Engineering when deeper investigation is needed. - **Make your work reusable.** Create sample code, documentation and tools that help customers and teammates solve similar problems. - **Help improve our platform.** Share customer feedback and technical insights with Product and Engineering to inform product improvements. **What you’ll bring to Persona** - **2–4 years of relevant technical experience.** You’ve worked in software engineering, forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering or a similarly hands-on technical role, with experience delivering software or integrations used by customers. - **Strong programming fundamentals.** You’re comfortable writing, testing and debugging code in a language such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript or Ruby. You can work in an unfamiliar codebase and build reliable solutions beyond a proof of concept. - **Experience building API integrations.** You understand REST APIs, HTTP, JSON, authentication and webhooks, and can reason through how systems exchange data and handle failures. - **Clear communication.** You enjoy explaining ideas, asking thoughtful questions and adapting your approach to technical and non-technical audiences. - **An interest in customers.** You want to understand not just how something works, but what someone is trying to achieve and why it matters. - **Resourcefulness and follow-through.** You’re organised, willing to investigate unfamiliar problems and comfortable asking for help when you need it. - **A growth mindset.** You seek out feedback, act on it and enjoy collaborating with people who have different perspectives and expertise. - Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time for customer engagements. **Benefits and Perks** For full-time US-based employees (excluding internship and contractor opportunities), Persona offers a wide range of benefits, including medical, dental, and vision, 3% 401(k) contribution, unlimited PTO, quarterly mental health days, family planning benefits, professional development stipend, wellness benefits, among others. For full-time UK employees, Persona offers a wide range of benefits, including private medical insurance, dental insurance, a 6% employer pension contribution, unlimited PTO, a monthly wellness stipend, professional development stipend, co-working stipend, and more. As part of our interview process, all candidates will be asked to verify their identity with Persona. This step is used solely to confirm that candidates are who they say they are, and will have no impact on hiring decisions.
