FSO - Business Transformation - Consumer Banking - Senior

Job description

Location: Charlotte, Dallas, New York At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence. We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go. Join EY and help to build a better working world. EY is the only professional services firm with a separate business unit – the Financial Services Organization (FSO) – dedicated exclusively to the financial services marketplace. Our FSO Business Transformation practice helps global, super-regional and regional financial services clients improve performance in a rapidly changing environment. We assemble experienced, multidisciplinary teams, apply proven global methodologies, and draw on the full breadth of EY’s reach, capabilities and knowledge to deliver on strategic operations, technology, product, data, compliance and risk programs for leading U.S. institutions. About the team Our Consumer Banking practice is EY’s retail banking transformation franchise. We help banks reimagine how they attract, serve and retain customers, modernizing products and experiences, transforming end-to-end customer journeys and operations, and embedding data, AI and automation into the way they run their businesses. Our engagements range from focused, multi-week efforts to large-scale, multi-year transformation programs. While the areas below represent our core strengths, clients also look to us for support across a broad range of their most pressing challenges: Retail deposits, product innovation and customer experience transformation Consumer lending transformation across mortgages, home equity, cards, auto and personal lending Target operating model design, process re-engineering and cost optimization Core banking, loan origination and servicing platform modernization and migrations Data and technology enablement, digital workflows and intelligent automation AI- and agentic-enabled customer experiences and operating models Increasingly, our work – and our clients’ ambitions – are being reshaped by AI. We build the business cases, points of view and value frameworks that help clients unlock capacity across their operations, and we invest heavily in bringing modern AI tooling into our own ways of working. The opportunity As a Senior Consultant, you will be part of a fast-moving, high-growth practice that offers variety, challenge, responsibility and the opportunity to realize your leadership potential. You will help solve clients’ most challenging strategic and operational problems while building deep content expertise in the consumer banking space. If you want to serve marquee clients, work with talented colleagues and reach your full potential, EY Consulting is for you. We are looking for people who bring real depth in Consumer banking, and we recognize that depth is built in more than one way. We are equally interested in candidates from two backgrounds: bank operators — people who have worked inside a bank in consumer lending, underwriting or loan servicing; deposits, cards or payments; product management, customer experience, fraud and risk; or other retail banking operations and business-line roles, and who understand first-hand how the work actually gets done — and consulting and advisory professionals who have delivered transformation, operating model, process or technology change for banks, whether from a consulting firm, an internal strategy or transformation team, or a vendor or fintech serving the industry. Prior consulting experience is appreciated, but it is not a requirement. If you have spent your career inside a bank rather than advising one, we encourage you to apply. We will teach you the consulting toolkit, and we value the operating experience and industry credibility you bring to our clients from day one. Across both tracks, our ideal candidate is already putting AI to work using tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude and Replit to research faster, sharpen analysis, and draft and prototype ideas — and is eager to help us bring that same thinking to our clients. Your key responsibilities As a Senior Consultant, you’re likely to spend most of your time on the operational and technical aspects of client work, developing an in-depth understanding of our clients’ unique needs and goals. You will get direction and guidance from both the project team and client resources. Specifically, you will: Support the delivery of a project workstream, creating and reviewing high-quality work products Help ensure consistent delivery across peers and team members, and respond to client requests Contribute to the analysis behind the story by supporting current-/future-state assessments, operating model designs, benchmarking and business cases Coach and mentor newer team members and campus hires, sharing knowledge and helping them ramp Foster client relationships at appropriate levels Contribute to internal EY initiatives, points of view and business development, in addition to client-facing work, to further the development of our brand, our business and our people Skills and attributes for success A collaborative team player who thrives working alongside others rather than as an individual contributor Comfortable in a dynamic, flexible environment – able to balance multiple commitments and shifting priorities Proactively seeks out opportunities to take on new things and stretch and grow your skillset Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new scenarios, content and circumstances Consistently mentor and support your peers and junior resources Strong communication, critical-thinking, analytical and organizational skills, and a relentless focus on exceptional client service Curiosity about how technology, data and AI can be used to work smarter – and a willingness to bring modern AI tools into your day-to-day work To qualify for the role, you must have A bachelor’s degree plus approximately 2-6 years of related work experience Relevant experience through one of two tracks: consulting, advisory or transformation project delivery, ideally within financial services; or hands-on experience in consumer banking, retail bank operations, product management, customer experience, or consumer lending and servicing operations Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client-service and technical-writing skills, coupled with a genuine interest in deepening industry and content knowledge in the consumer space The ability to travel – you will likely spend time on-site with our clients, up to approximately 50% over the course of a year, and travel may be international Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship, now and in the future Ideally, you’ll also have The following are preferred but not required – we are just as interested in your potential and your willingness to learn: Hands-on experience applying AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT or Replit to everyday work, from research and analysis to drafting, prototyping and automation Experience with target operating model design, process re-engineering, current-/future-state assessment, or gap analysis Exposure to deposits, consumer lending, servicing operations, core banking modernization, system conversions, or customer migration Knowledge of consumer banking products and operations, including deposits, cards, payments, consumer lending, servicing and customer experience Experience supporting business cases, benchmarking or KPI/value frameworks for a transformation program What we look for We’re interested in curious, self-motivated people who bring a genuine point of view and the drive to make it happen. You’ll have plenty of autonomy in this role, so you’ll also need the initiative to seek out opportunities to improve our current relationships, our ways of working and our team. If you have a genuine passion for helping financial institutions better serve their customers – and for growing alongside the talented people around you – this role is for you.
