We're a distributed team of around 40 people across the UK and EU, and we like solving complex problems together. We bring a wide mix of skills, from front-end, back-end, full-stack and mobile engineering to machine learning, data science and analytics, to build the experiences that guide our members through their health journey. We're proud of the diversity in our team: 39% female and 61% male, with colleagues from many backgrounds, cultures and lived experiences. We believe this makes us stronger, more creative and better able to serve our global community. Collaboration is core to how we work. Engineers at ZOE partner closely with data scientists, analysts, product managers and product designers to bring new ideas to life. Depending on the project, we also work with marketing, finance, legal and other teams, so the work is highly cross-functional and impactful. Above all, we value curiosity, openness and empowerment. We encourage everyone to share ideas, keep learning and shape how we work, whether that's experimenting with new technology, improving our ways of working or finding better ways to support our members. ## 🚀 About the role We're looking for a Full Stack Engineer with a front-end focus to help us build world-class digital experiences. ZOE runs a full-stack environment, but this role is for someone who loves crafting seamless, performant, responsive and beautiful user interfaces. Your main focus will be [****](http://zoe.com), the place where people discover ZOE, learn about our science and join as members or buy our products. Your work will directly shape how millions of people first experience ZOE, and you'll see its impact in the data. You'll spend most of your time in TypeScript, React and Next.js. You'll also work in our backend services (Kotlin or Python) to make sure the data you need is available, well structured and delivered efficiently. You'll help shape and grow our web design system with design and engineering, and you'll launch A/B tests and work with analysts to understand the results. ## 💻 Our Stack - **Frontend:** TypeScript, React, Next.js, React Native, GraphQL - **Backend:** Kotlin / Spring Boot, Python / FastAPI and Django - **Tools:** Google Tag Manager, **[CMS name, e.g. DatoCMS]**, Optimizely, Google Pub/Sub, Grafana, Firebase Auth - **CI/CD:** ArgoCD, GitHub Actions - **Data:** web data layer, dbt, BigQuery, Airflow - **Infrastructure:** GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, Vercel ## 🎯 What you'll be doing - **Building** [****](http://zoe.com)**:** developing a fast, accessible and beautiful website that is consistently on-brand. - **Design partnership:** working closely with UX designers to turn high-fidelity designs into fluid, accessible and performant components. - **Design system:** contributing to and helping grow our shared component library and web design system. - **Experimentation:** launching A/B tests and working with analysts to interpret results and improve the user journey. - **Bridging the stack:** collaborating on API design and implementing backend changes where new front-end features need them. - **Engineering excellence:** writing clean, testable, maintainable code and shipping to production regularly, ideally daily. - **Growth:** learning from and working alongside senior engineers, sharing knowledge with others, and growing into a technical owner of parts of our web platform. ## 🧠 We think you'd be great if you… - Have **3–5 years of professional software development experience**, with a strong focus on front-end. - Have **strong experience with TypeScript, React and Next.js**, and understand state management, hooks and web performance optimisation. - Have **working knowledge of a backend language** (such as Python, Kotlin or Java) and feel comfortable navigating an API or database schema. - Are a **pragmatic engineer** who prefers simple, maintainable solutions to clever over-engineering. - Enjoy **collaborative, cross-functional work** and care about the "why" behind a feature as much as the "how." ## ✨ Nice to have - Experience building or contributing to a design system or shared component library - Experience with A/B testing and experimentation tools (e.g. Optimizely) - Good understanding of accessibility (WCAG) - Experience with GraphQL - Production experience with Kotlin or Python **Don't tick every box?** We'd still love to hear from you. We care more about how you think and learn than about matching a checklist. ## 🌍 Where and how we work - Fully remote, open to candidates based in the **UK, Ireland, Spain, Poland or Germany** who have the right to work there. We're not able to offer visa sponsorship for this role. - We work across UK and Central European time zones. - We get together in person **once each quarter** for team gatherings. ## **✨ Our Hiring Journey** We value your time. While the exact steps and timeline can vary slightly depending on the role, seniority, and team, we’ve designed a streamlined **4-step blueprint** to get us from *"Hello"* to *"Welcome to the team"* as efficiently as possible: 1. 👋 **Intro Chat with the Talent Team:** A high-energy alignment check to learn about you and share our vision. 2. 🧠 **Hiring Manager Interview:** A tactical conversation focused on your craft, experience, and aspirations. 3. 🔄 **The Remote Loop:** 2 to 4 focused interviews assessing your technical expertise, behavioural approach, and collaboration style. 4. 🎉 **Offer & Welcome:** Finalising the details and getting you ready to hit the ground running! Once we connect, we pride ourselves on moving fast. Our average hiring process takes between **20 to 30 days**, depending on the complexity of the role. We love momentum, but we’re always happy to adjust the timeline to match your schedule and personal preference. ### ___________________________________________________________________________ ## 🚀 **Ready to thrive?
