📱 Fullstack Developer (Paris or remote)

Job description

### 🍿 About Staycation For most people, hotels are places you only visit when you travel. But we see something different. Behind their doors, hotels hide some of the most extraordinary spaces cities have to offer: breathtaking rooftops with skyline views, world-class spas and pools, bars and restaurants led by visionary chefs, interiors that spark the imagination, and beds so perfect you never want to leave them. Yet, most of these spaces remain invisible to the people who live just a few streets away. Staycation was born from a simple belief: the most inspiring places in your city shouldn’t be reserved for tourists. They should be part of your everyday life, an alternative to a dinner-date at a restaurant, a spontaneous midweek escape, or a unique way to celebrate a special moment. Our mission is to **transform hotels into a new form of urban entertainment.** Places people turn to when they want to feel, connect or recharge. Whether it’s 24 hours, 48 hours, or just a few hours, we’re reinventing the way people experience the cities they call home. Today, Staycation means: - 🌍 **5 million users** in France, the UK, Spain, Belgium and Switzerland - 🏨 **4,000 partner hotels** among the best 4★, 5★ and iconic palaces - ⭐️ **9.3/10 average rating** for our experiences Joining Staycation means becoming part of a passionate, creative, and ambitious team on a quest to redefine what hospitality and city life can be. ## ✨ The role We’re hiring a **Fullstack Developer** to strengthen our Product & Engineering team. You’ll join one of our cross-functional product squads, working closely with a Lead Developer, a Product Manager, a Product Designer and other Fullstack Developers. Your role will be to turn user problems into reliable product increments, contribute from discovery to production, and balance impact, speed, quality and maintainability. We’re open to both experienced and senior individual contributors, and we’ll calibrate the scope based on what you have already owned and delivered. You may be stronger in either frontend or backend, but you should be genuinely comfortable contributing across both and motivated to keep growing on the full stack. You’ll report to the Lead Developer of your squad and be part of the Product team led by [Robin](https://player.vimeo.com/video/1187602975?h=dc8d62cd06), our CTO & Head of Product. ## 📍 Key responsibilities - Design, build, test, deploy and monitor product features across the frontend and backend. - Work closely with Product Management and Product Design from the problem-definition stage, helping shape the solution rather than simply implementing a finished specification. - Break down projects into clear increments, estimate your work, identify dependencies and risks, and communicate early when the plan needs to change. - Take ownership of what you ship in production, from instrumentation and monitoring to incident diagnosis and continuous improvement. - Contribute to high-quality code reviews, pragmatic testing strategies, refactoring and the active management of technical debt. - Document decisions, share knowledge and help improve our engineering practices and codebase over time. - Depending on your level, plan multi-week projects, design architectures that others can implement and introduce practices that continue to work without you in the loop. ## 🧰 Our tech environment Four products running on a shared stack: - The **website** (React / Next.js), our storefront and booking funnel. - The **mobile app** (React Native), used daily by our users, with its own release cycles and performance stakes. - The **hotel extranet**, where our partners manage their offers, inventory, bookings, billing, timeslots. - The internal **admin platform**, the tool our teams use to run the marketplace. On the back-end side: micro-services in NestJS and more, PostgreSQL for our databases, hosted on AWS with Terraform. ## 📌 Key results ### In your first 3 months, you’ll be expected to: - Understand your squad’s product mission, users, metrics and main technical flows. - Become familiar with our stack, codebase, rituals and path to production. - Ship a first end-to-end increment and monitor its performance in production. - Contribute useful code reviews and identify at least one relevant technical risk or improvement. - Build reliable working relationships with Engineering, Product Management and Product Design. ### In your first 12 months, you’ll be expected to: - Own a meaningful product and technical scope within your squad. - Have contributed to a measurable product outcome for our users and the business. - Deliver reliably, surface risks early and make sound trade-offs between speed, quality and reversibility. - Have improved at least one engineering practice or part of the codebase in a way that benefits the wider team. - At senior level, have planned and driven a multi-week project or designed an architecture successfully implemented by others. ## 🌍 Location This position is open to candidates based anywhere in **France**, with two possible working arrangements: - If you are based in the **Paris region**, you will work in a hybrid setup, with **three days per week** at our Paris office. - If you are based elsewhere in France, you can work **fully remotely** and will join us in Paris for **three consecutive days each month** (Wednesday to Friday during the first week of the month). ## 🚀 Why join us? - Work on a product used by millions of people, with a direct and visible impact on their experience. - Contribute to ambitious product challenges across the full user journey. - Own features end to end and take part in product decisions alongside Product and Design. - Work across web, mobile and backend challenges in an engineering culture that values pragmatism over technical dogma. - Join a small team with real autonomy, short decision cycles and room to shape the codebase, architecture and ways of working. - Combine remote flexibility with regular time together as a team in Paris. ## 🎯 You’re the ideal candidate if you: ### Must-haves - Have at least 5 years of professional software development experience, with a track record of shipping and owning meaningful product features. - Have real experience contributing to both frontend and backend development, even if one side is currently stronger. - Have solid experience with **React/Next.js or a comparable modern frontend stack**, as well as building APIs and working with data using **Node.js or a comparable backend stack**. - Have good knowledge of **SQL and PostgreSQL**. - Can take a feature from an ambiguous problem to a reliable production release, making pragmatic technical and product trade-offs along the way. - Care about code quality, testing, maintainability and production reliability without losing sight of delivery and user impact. - Communicate clearly, collaborate without ego and are comfortable working closely with Product and Design. - Are autonomous and reliable in a distributed team, while knowing when to ask for context, feedback or support. ### Nice-to-haves - Experience with **React Native**. - Experience working on a B2C product, marketplace, mobile application, booking or payment journey. - Previous experience working remotely. - Comfortable working in English in a professional environment. ## ⚙️ Hiring process - Recruiter interview with [Mathieu](https://www.linkedin.com/in/mathieu-fernandez8/), our Talent Acquisition Manager (30–45 min) - Manager interview with [Robin](https://www.linkedin.com/in/robin-biondi-02921a85/), our CTO & Head of Product, and [Charlie](https://www.linkedin.com/in/charles-alexis-hayes-955092131/), one of our Lead Developers (60 min) - Technical interview with [Corentin](https://www.linkedin.com/in/corentin-lefevre/) and [Joachim](https://www.linkedin.com/in/joachimwestphal/), our Tech Leads (60 min) - Final meetings with members of our Leadership team (60 min) and your potential future teammates (30 min) ### In the meantime, meet Robin, our CTO & Head of Product:
