General Partner (Buyout Strategy)

Job description

About Allocator One Allocator One Group is a global investing and operating platform reshaping how institutional capital reaches private markets. We are one of the most active backers of emerging fund managers and have visibility on roughly 80% of the global first-time GP landscape , identifying, evaluating and supporting the top talent before broader markets do. It’s structured around two distinct but complementary business lines: Allocator One: our investment platform that anchors and accelerates high-potential first- and second-time fund managers by providing early capital, strategic support and market access. Infra One: our technology-enabled fund operations and services arm, which simplifies regulatory, administrative and operational challenges so emerging managers can scale quickly and globally. Together, this model goes beyond a traditional fund-of-funds by pairing capital with a scalable platform: early commitments, institutional-grade support and proprietary workflows that reduce friction from fund setup through reporting and investor engagement. We operate across four continents, with core hubs in Vienna, London and Singapore , and continue to expand our geographic footprint. While this role is open globally, we’re ideally looking for someone whose experience profile and base are in Europe to work closely with the founding partners. Tasks We invite a seasoned buyout professional to build and lead our dedicated buyout strategy. Sitting alongside our existing venture capital, FoFs and allocator businesses, this role focuses on capital formation and long‑term platform development. We are looking for someone with a real, defensible edge with established credibility, judgment, and independent standing in the market. Specifically, you will: Own and lead capital formation for our buyout strategy, with primary responsibility for European institutional LPs, family offices, and search-savvy allocators Anchor and shape first-time buyout managers and operator-led vehicles , typically in the sub-€30m equity range Represent the strategy externally at the most senior level — articulating a clear, differentiated narrative around succession-driven buyouts, operator leadership, and early liquidity pathways Work closely with the founding partners to integrate buyout investing with the broader Allocator One platform (search funds, data infrastructure, diligence OS, LP exchange) Contribute to investment judgment and governance , without being positioned as a deal-execution or portfolio-operations partner The mandate is long-term: building a durable European franchise, not optimizing a single fundraise. Requirements Your Profile: Senior buyout leadership: Extensive experience as a GP/Partner or Managing Director in mid‑market or upper‑mid‑market buyout funds with a demonstrable track record of successful investments and an established standing in the European private equity ecosystem. Proven in capital formation: Having materially led or anchored fundraises and maintained long-standing relationships with institutional LPs and leading family offices. Independent standing: You are trusted by sophisticated capital, founders, or operators on a personal basis. Your credibility travels with you. Capital judgment: You have a track record of selecting people and opportunities before they became obvious—and of passing when others rushed in. Credibility and gravitas: Ability to command respect and engage as a peer with leading allocators; skilled at narrative building and negotiation. Benefits Structured at partner level, to be discussed in person. Why Allocator One Allocator One is building a focused private markets platform designed to operate where traditional buyout structures are less effective. We bring together experienced partners, a curated capital base, and purpose-built infrastructure to support smaller, succession-driven transactions and emerging managers at an institutional standard. Platform approach: Centralized capabilities across sourcing, diligence, governance, and reporting, designed to support repeatable execution rather than one-off transactions. Access and selectivity: Structured access to operator-led opportunities through proprietary networks, combined with disciplined manager and deal selection. Aligned capital: Long-term LP relationships with experience across private equity, search funds, and first-time managers, supporting consistent capital formation. Scalable by design: A model intended to compound across funds, strategies, and vintages, without reliance on growth through fund size alone. Our platform is built for people who back people early and build conviction quietly . The buyout strategy is intended to be led by someone who naturally operates that way, who recognizes that if you select the right individuals and align incentives correctly, scale follows as a consequence, not a goal. If how this role is framed reflects how you operate and our philosophy resonates with you, we welcome your direct engagement to explore alignment.
