Job description
**Mine Geologist, Junior** **Location:** Nussir – Norway (Hammerfest Municipality, Finnmark) **Role Type:**Onsite – Local Please note the work schedule is Monday through Friday on site at Nussir. This is a residential position. **Key responsibilities:** - Contribute to the development and maintenance of a safety-focused and results-oriented culture in mining and geology teams. - Collect geological field data - including but not only – face mapping and chip sampling. - Geological and geotechnical logging of drilling cores. - Inspect and guide drilling operations related to grade control and mine exploration. - Ensure high quality in geological sampling and geological data processing - Co-operate with operational team to optimize dilution and ore recoveries - Participating in reconciliation processes between geological models and production. - Use of block models, geological models and drill core databases. - Collect and shipment of geological samples to assay lab. - Assist in updating grade-control geology models. - Support Senior geologist by providing information for geology reports - Work independently within broad guidelines to solve non-standard problems, applying best practices to improve geological processes and outcomes. - Performs other duties as assigned. **Requirements:** - Bachelor’s degree in Geology from a recognized university. - Minimum 2 years’ experience in underground non-ferrous metals production, preferably with precious and base metals. - Experience in Geological interpretation and 3D modelling using software like, Leapfrog, Deswik and Supervisor. - Experience with overseeing diamond drilling and diamond drilling contractors. - Database management and QA/QC of geological data. - Knowledge and experience of underground grade control drilling, sampling techniques, reconciliation and underground mapping (geological and structural). - Good team working skills. - Understanding of mine planning and scheduling, including face sampling, ore deposits geochemistry, structural geology and grade modelling. - Fluent in English, both in oral and written, is required.
