ROLE of the POSITION The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV, Internal Medicine Department, is searching for an Assistant/Associate/Professor in the specialty of Geriatrics. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing academic Geriatrics practice. The successful candidate will have a passion for the teaching of internal medicine residents and Geriatrics Fellows in both the inpatient medical service and ambulatory setting. The position will engage in didactic teaching, research, and maintain a practice of Geriatric Medicine, delivering and striving for excellence in patient care. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a M.D. or D.O. from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Completed an ACGME-approved Internal Medicine Residency Program, completed an ACGME-approved Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program, be board certified in Internal Medicine, and be board certified or board eligible within two (2) years of graduation from an ACGME-approved Geriatrics Fellowship Program. Candidates must be eligible for an unrestricted Nevada medical license, Nevada pharmacy and DEA licenses, and malpractice insurance. They must also meet credentialing requirements and be able to obtain privileges at affiliated hospitals and other site locations as needed. The candidate’s educational credentials, terminal degree, experience in an academic medical institution, or equivalency, research, and scholarly activity will be considered in determining the candidate’s recommended rank. The SOM Faculty Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure (FAPT) Committee will use the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV (SOM) promotion criteria to recommend rank to the Dean of the SOM. Tenure consideration may be given upon hire on a case-by-case basis, depending on verified previous credentials, the FAPT recommendation, and SOM Dean's recommendation.
