Graduate Mobile Software Engineer (Android/iOS)

Job description

**Role Overview** This is a hybrid role, with an expectation to be on site at least 2 days per week in our Cork office. We’re hiring Graduate Mobile Software Engineers to join NETGEAR’s Mobile Engineering team in Cork. You’ll help build the next generation of native mobile apps that connect millions of customers to their NETGEAR devices. You’ll work alongside experienced mobile engineers across the full product life cycle, from requirements through build and test to release and the production data that follows. You’ll write production code in your first weeks, not your first year, and you’ll use AI coding agents as a standard part of your toolkit. Engineers here own their work end to end, including quality. That ownership is the fastest way to earn trust and take on bigger work. You’ll join our mobile engineering team in Cork, which is part of NETGEAR’s global engineering organization. The team is hybrid, and you’ll spend at least three days a week in the office to collaborate, learn and share ideas. **What You Will Be Doing** - Building features in our native Android (Kotlin) and iOS (Swift) applications, from ticket to release. - Owning the quality of what you build, including functional QA, regression testing and release validation. - Testing on real devices to make sure setup flows, error states and edge cases work for the person holding the phone, not just for the test suite. - Writing and maintaining automated unit, integration and UI tests, so the same bug is never found twice by hand. - Working AI-first, using agentic coding tools to plan, write, test, review and refactor, and helping the team get better at it. - Automating repetitive work by contributing to CI/CD pipelines, build tooling and release automation. - Debugging and optimizing using crash, performance and analytics data from production. - Integrating APIs, SDKs and cloud services to power app functionality. - Taking part in agile ceremonies and code reviews, giving and receiving feedback. - Doing what the release needs, whether that is a test pass, a build fix, a script or a spec. **What You Will Gain** - Hands-on experience building and shipping native Android and iOS apps used by millions of customers worldwide. - Real ownership of quality, which is the fastest route to trust and scope on this team. - A deep understanding of mobile architectures, UI frameworks and platform APIs. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and modern DevOps practice. - Fluency in AI-assisted development using Claude Code, Copilot and ChatGPT. - A structured graduate onboarding path with a named mentor and a defined first-year development plan. - Room to grow within NETGEAR’s global engineering organization. **What We Are Looking For** - A Level 8 honours degree (or an equivalent honours bachelor’s degree) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline completed by November 2026. - Real evidence that you can code, in any language. College projects, internships, personal apps, open source and hackathons all count. - An eye for quality. You notice when something feels wrong for the user, not just when a test fails. - Curiosity about AI-assisted development and a willingness to work in a toolchain that is changing quickly. - A hands-on attitude. Our best engineers pick up whatever the release needs rather than waiting for it to be assigned. - Clear written and spoken communication. - Strong problem solving, attention to detail and a collaborative mindset. **Nice to Have** - Native mobile experience, Kotlin and Jetpack Compose on Android, or Swift and SwiftUI on iOS. - Any published app, even a small one. - Experience with cross-platform frameworks such as React Native or Flutter. - Exposure to Git, CI/CD or automated testing. - Knowledge of REST APIs and mobile architecture fundamentals such as MVC or MVVM. - Interest in networked applications, IoT or connected devices. We assess aptitude, not a checklist. If you have shipped something you are proud of in any stack, apply. With several roles available, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t tick every box. **Why Join NETGEAR** - Build mobile apps that help millions of users manage and connect their devices worldwide. - Start your career alongside a Cork-based team that values innovation, craftsmanship and continuous learning. - Work on mobile and IoT technology at global scale. - Learn and deliver faster with leading AI development tools. - Competitive salary, pension, healthcare and share scheme. **Key Details** - Start date: November/December 2026 - Closing date: 23rd October 2026. *Eligibility to live and work in Ireland is required. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship or relocation support for these roles.* **Company Statement** At NETGEAR, we are on a mission to unleash the full potential of connectivity with intelligent solutions that delight and protect.
