Job description
Functions: Provide advisory services on issues that relate to legal and regulatory requirements and liaise with relevant regulatory bodies Manage relationships with external solicitors and ensure compliance with agreed service levels Manage all corporate affairs and communications on behalf of the organization Draft, negotiate, administer, interpret and advise on agreements, letters, forms and other legal documents related to the organization as required Participate in the articulation of the organization’s strategic goals and objectives Review and authorize all expenditure/transactions of the legal department in line with the approved departmental budget and organizational policy Provide all guidance, leadership support and strategic direction in the execution of the legal department duties Keep abreast of best practices, changes in regulation, amendment of enabling laws and advice the organization accordingly Requirements: Minimum of a 1st degree in Law, an LLM in Commercial law will be an added advantage. Minimum of 10 years post call experience, with experience in oil & gas, energy and manufacturing industries In-depth knowledge of international and local business and commercial law Experience in handling regulatory affairs and legal matters in the power sector will be an added advantage Prior involvement in big ticket and complex transactions is desirable Responsible for managing the legal department, providing legal advisory services to the business, and ensuring effective management of legal and contractual risks . Responsibilities also include ensuring compliance with appropriate statutory and regulatory provisions, and management of board relationships.
