Job description
Director-level individual contributor. No people management. You own the entire infrastructure stack - build it, secure it, scale it. Must haves - Production infrastructure experience in a regulated environment (HIPAA, SOC2, GDPR, or equivalent). You've dealt with audits, compliance controls, and know why "it works on my machine" doesn't cut it. - Deep Kubernetes expertise running production workloads. You troubleshoot clusters under pressure, not just deploy YAML from a tutorial. - Multi-cloud: AWS and GCP. You operate across both, understand the tradeoffs, and don't default to one provider for everything. - Infrastructure as Code in production. Pulumi or Terraform. You write it, you review it, you own it. - Observability and incident response. You've built monitoring, alerting, and on-call systems that actually catch problems before customers do. - Currently or recently hands-on. This is not a management track. If your last production contribution was a slide deck, this role is not for you. What you'll actually do - Design and operate the multi-cloud Kubernetes infrastructure across AWS and GCP. - Implement and enforce HIPAA/SOC2 compliance across the entire stack. - Write Infrastructure as Code (Pulumi). Review it. Ship it. - Build the observability and incident response pipeline - metrics, logs, traces, alerting. - Set technical infrastructure standards for the engineering team. - Own production incidents from detection to postmortem. What we won't ask you to do - Manage people. - Write status reports. - Attend meetings about meetings about infrastructure.
