Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Process Engineer or Specialist to support and enhance Process Safety Management processes and systems across our power generation fleet. This role is responsible for lifecycle management of storage and handling systems covering hydrogen, ammonia and other substances across the fleet to ensure compliance with applicable codes/standards and insurance requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in process safety engineering and hands-on experience with systems operation and maintenance. This position plays a critical role in reducing operational risk, improving system reliability, and supporting safe, continuous plant operations. Job Description Key Accountabilities: Standards and Guidelines Governance Administer generation services standards ensure alignment with applicable codes and standards Ensure all standards incorporate event learnings, insurer loss control recommendations and industry best practices/technical bulletins Coordinate development and revision of standards by facilitating technical input from SMEs. System Performance & Compliance Evaluate existing plant systems for adequacy, reliability, and compliance. Support inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) programs in alignment with requirements Identify gaps and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks. Risk Engineering & Continuous Improvement Participating in incident investigations and root cause analyses related to PSM system failures or impairments. Drive standardization and continuous improvement initiatives across the fleet. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and EHS teams to integrate PSM requirements into plant activities. Provide technical training and guidance to site personnel as needed. Education and Skill Requirements: High School Diploma/GED equivalent with minimum 10 years of experience in power generation, or similar asset-intensive environments. Experience supporting engineering, maintenance, operations, compliance, or technical program administration preferred. Demonstrated experience with operations and maintenance of hazardous chemicals handling systems and PSM administrative tools Strong working knowledge of CGA, OSHA, ANSI, EPA and NFPA requirements as they relate to Hydrogen, Ammonia and Natural Gas. NFPA (applicable standards) OSHA 1910.111 – Storage and Handling of Anhydrous Ammonia OSHA 1910.119 – Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals OSHA 1910.120 – Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response ANSI K61.1 – 1999 – Safety for Storage and Handling of Anhydrous Ammonia OSHA 1910.1200 – Hazard Communications EPA 40 CFR Part 68 – Accidental Release Prevention Requirements: Risk Management Programs Under Clean Air Act Section 112(r)(7) Familiarity with Hazard Mitigation or Process Safety Analysis Strong project management and organizational skills. Proven ability to manage contractors and multiple projects simultaneously. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence stakeholders. Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities. Key Metrics for Success: Compliance & Risk Reduction Reduction in identified system deficiencies across the fleet. Successful adherence to standards, insurance requirements, and internal policies. Audit & Inspection Outcomes Timely closure of audit findings and corrective actions. Operational Support Effectiveness in supporting plant operations with minimal disruption. Responsiveness to emergent issues and incident investigations. Location : Will consider any Vistra fossil generation facility as an alternative to Irving TX. Grade: Grade will be assigned based on skills and experience (aligned with engineering/specialist progression program).
