Housing | Product Engineer - Mobile

**About ZURU** ZURU is a reimagination company. We look for categories that have stood still, then we build next-generation products and brands that set the new standard. ZURU Toys is reimagining play. ZURU Edge is reinventing everyday consumer brands. Rhodes Pet Science is reimagining pet science. ZURU Tech is leading the next building revolution. ZURU started in 2003 with two brothers from New Zealand, and we're still founder-owned and operated today. Since then we've become the world's second-biggest privately held toy company, and nearly half of all Gen Y and Gen Z households with kids in the US own a ZURU product. Today we're 5,000 people in 34 offices, selling into more than 150 markets, backed by over 100 acres of fully automated manufacturing. And we're only getting started. **About the role**: We are looking for a product-driven engineer to own native mobile app development in Italy. You will build and ship ZURU's consumer mobile apps on iOS and Android, and be the in-house reference for how native apps should be built — including reviewing and gating code produced by AI agents or by other developers, so we always have someone who truly understands what is happening under the hood. **Responsibilities:** You are a multi-hat developer with an entrepreneurial streak: an indie / solo developer or ex-startup engineer who has built several apps end to end and published them on the App Store and Google Play. You know the app-development world first-hand, you think about the product and the user as much as the code, and you are used to making decisions on your own. # - Design, build and ship native mobile apps for iOS (Swift) and Android (Kotlin), from first prototype to store release. - Own the native mobile technology area: architecture, tooling, build and release pipelines, store submission. - Review and quality-gate native code, including code generated with AI coding agents, and fix it when it goes wrong. - Work directly with product designers and product owners to shape features, requirements and user experience. - Rapidly prototype new product ideas and turn the successful ones into production-quality apps. - Advise the wider team on native vs. cross-platform trade-offs and on mobile best practices. **Must-have** - Solid, hands-on experience with native iOS development in Swift (SwiftUI / UIKit). - Working knowledge of native Android development in Kotlin. - Strong product sense and the ability to work autonomously across the full lifecycle of an app. - Daily, fluent use of AI coding tools and the judgement to review their output critically. **Nice to have** - Experience with React Native or other cross-platform frameworks, and a clear view of when to use them. - Startup or founder experience, or having run your own apps as a business. - Experience integrating apps with connected devices / hardware (e.g. cameras, Bluetooth). - Familiarity with a Node.js backend stack. **Who thrives at ZURU** This isn't a 9-to-5. We move fast, think big and set goals most companies would call impossible, then go after them. The people who thrive here are entrepreneurs at heart. They own their work, chase bold ideas and never stop raising the bar. At ZURU, you drive your career, and we give you the platform to take it as far as you can. There are opportunities here that you won’t find anywhere else, and you'll be surrounded by talented people who make things happen. We're a true meritocracy: we reward impact, not tenure. **Contract: CCNL Commercio e servizi** (H011) **Full-time - Permanent** **Work mode: Hybrid policy** **How we work** Big ideas happen when great people work side by side, so we're office-first by design. Being together means faster collaboration, sharper decisions and stronger teams, and it's where the real learning happens. Some flexibility may be available depending on the role, location and business needs. In ZURU Tech we have a hybrid work policy. Want to see what life at ZURU really looks like?
