Infrastructure Engineer, Boston

Job description

The physical world generates an extraordinary amount of data, yet most of what happens inside manufacturing and logistics sites remains invisible to the systems that run them. At Protex AI, we're changing that. We're building Site Intelligence, an AI platform that connects cameras, enterprise systems and operational knowledge to give businesses a real-time understanding of what's happening across their operations. Our computer vision technology transforms video into structured operational data, while AI agents turn that data into insights, investigations and actions. We're helping some of the world's largest enterprises improve safety, eliminate inefficiencies and increase productivity. We've built a strong foundation in safety. Now we're expanding into a much bigger opportunity: using AI to fundamentally change how industrial operations are understood, managed and optimised. Interested in creating a new category with us? We're looking for high-agency people who thrive in ambiguity, move quickly and care deeply about solving real problems. # **About the Team** The Platform (Infrastructure) Team builds and maintains the core foundation that powers all Protex systems. We foster robust edge-to-cloud connectivity, creating scalable data infrastructure and high-performance backend services. Our team ensures strong edge deployments for real-time computer vision applications and delivers dependable systems that enable proactive workplace safety at global scale. # **About the Role** We’re looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to lead infrastructure efforts across cloud and edge environments. You’ll architect and implement CI/CD pipelines, design scalable observability systems, and drive system reliability across globally distributed environments for our customers. You’ll work closely with engineering teams to support well-architected, cost-effective, and secure infrastructure. This includes proactive cost management, cloud security enforcement, and compliance with regional standards like GDPR. # **What You'll Need** - 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Infrastructure, or SRE roles - Proven experience in SRE with a focus on uptime, reliability, and system health - Expertise in monitoring, observability, and reliability best practices - Demonstrated experience with CI/CD pipeline design and automation (cloud and edge) - Experience with real-time, distributed, or IoT infrastructure - Experience with Unix-based operating systems - Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Terraform - Experience managing split environments (Dev, Staging, Prod) with consistent, production-quality data - Ability to deploy infrastructure across regions while maintaining GDPR and other compliance standards - Substantial knowledge of AWS services (e.g., Lambda, EC2, S3, CloudWatch) - Demonstrated focus on developer experience and supporting cross-functional teams - Demonstrated understanding of cloud security best practices (secrets management, threat prevention, vulnerability mitigation) - Ability to influence technical direction, mentor others, and implement solutions - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field # **Nice To Have** - Experience speaking to customers about their data pipelines - Expertise in CI/CD pipeline development for edge deployments # **Why Join Us** At Protex AI, you'll be part of a supportive team working on innovative challenges with a shared mission. We value both individual leadership and team collaboration, providing opportunities to make a meaningful impact on workplace safety around the world. *Please note: We require this role to be located in our Boston, MA office on Summer Street.* Protex AI is an inclusive and equal opportunities employer.
