Installation Quality Specialist

Job description

### **About Zero Homes** Our mission is to rebuild American communities through healthy, affordable homes. At Zero Homes, we operate on a simple premise: when you make contractors successful, homeowners win. The current home services industry is fragmented, complex, and opaque, which is frustrating for homeowners and exhausting for contractors. We are changing this by building a home upgrade marketplace that enables a simple, central, transparent process for homeowners and contractors to complete projects. Through our platform we handle design, quoting, procurement, and customer service, allowing our contractor network to focus on what they do best and make them money: delivering projects. For homeowners, this delivers a predictable, high-quality, and transparent experience, transforming home upgrades from a source of anxiety into a seamless experience. Our vision is to create a world where homeowners and contractors in all 50 states can leverage our platform to execute thousands of projects every week within the next 36 months. We work by a clear set of values: - **Be a "can kid," not a "can’t kid":** We own our outcomes and go to extraordinary lengths to solve problems. - **Go fast, be clear:** Speed is our advantage, and we sweat the details to deliver an extraordinary customer experience. - **Customer & Contractor Obsessed:** We have a deep, personal understanding of the work to be done. We stay curious about our contractors' craft and the stories of our homeowners. - **Win, as a team:** We are building an iconic business that will reinvent the industry, and will do so together. If you are ready to build a world-class consumer experience that genuinely rebuilds American communities, come build with us. ### About This Position The Installation Quality Manager is a core member of Zero's Technical Operations team. You'll run the pre-install QA check that catches design and site problems, run the post-install QC check that decides whether a job meets our standards, and own all punch list items from start to completion. Just as importantly, you'll own the contractor experience through that process, making sure our standards are clear, issues are resolved quickly, and crews aren't left guessing about what good looks like. You'll be the technical phone-a-friend for both our contractors and our install coordination team, which means when a crew hits something unexpected on site, you're the technical resource that provides the solution.Your job is to help contractors do great work with Zero: fewer surprises, faster answers, clear expectations, and a partner they trust when something goes sideways. Zero’s Technical Operations team is our technical authority in the field. Technical Operations own installation quality, field technical support, standards, and enablement as a whole. In addition to training and quality, this team focuses on developing better field solutions, using creativity and technical judgment when there isn’t an obvious answer. Just as importantly, they close the loop between design and field execution, turning what we learn on job sites into better products, better standards, and better installs across the network. ### Who You Are You've spent 3-5 years installing and servicing HVAC systems, and you can tell whether an install was done right. You're the person who notices the thing everyone else walked past, and you can raise it with a contractor in a way that gets it fixed without turning into a negotiation. You understand that quality isn't just enforcement, it's creating an environment where good contractors can succeed, improve, and enjoy working with us. You're comfortable being the escalation point: a crew calls you mid-install with a line set routing problem or an unexpected wiring or controls problem, and you can talk them through it or drive out and solve it yourself. You like systems, but you'd rather build a process that makes a contractor's job easier and helps them get it right the first time than a document nobody reads. You build credibility with crews because you've done the work yourself, communicate clearly, and treat contractors like partners rather than problems to manage. When a problem needs to be solved today, you handle it with a can-do attitude. ### What You Bring - 3-5 years of hands-on residential HVAC installation and supervisor / management experience, with the depth to review someone else's work and deliver constructive advice. - Experience running quality checks on residential installs - The ability to give clear technical direction to contractors and coordinators, both on site and over the phone - Comfort reading equipment layouts and specs - Willingness to do the work yourself: local site walks, simple inspection correction in the field, part runs and deliveries, and covering local service calls. - Valid driver's license and clean driving record - Bonus: EPA 608 certification, NATE certification, Master mechanical license
