Instructional Designer

Job description

**About Us** InStride Health’s mission is to deliver specialty anxiety and OCD care that works for every kid, teen, young adult, and family who needs it. Through this mission, we are expanding access to insurance-based care, increasing engagement in treatment, and improving treatment outcomes. We are doing this by combining research-backed clinical care and innovative technology to eliminate the major problems with care today: difficulty finding providers, months of waiting to be seen, arduous onboarding processes, and inconsistent use of evidence-based therapies and outcomes tracking. Our vision is to become the nation’s most trusted provider of pediatric anxiety and OCD care. **Team****InStride Health: Our Core Values** - **Give Heart**: We lead with heart, treating patients and their families the way we want our loved ones to be treated. - **Work Smart**: We find smarter ways to solve hard problems and fix the broken mental health system by leveraging technology, diversity of thought, and innovation. - **Have Humility**: We leave our egos at the door, empowering our team to collaborate, celebrate diversity, and adopt a growth mindset. - **Embrace Community:** We all belong. We are in this together, and we never worry alone. We believe in each other and recognize that every voice matters. **About the Role** We are looking for an Instructional Designer to design, build, and manage learning initiatives for our community of providers, including psychiatrists, therapists, and exposure coaches. As a key member of our Learning and Development team, you will partner with clinical leaders and subject matter experts to turn complex behavioral health protocols into engaging, practical training that strengthens the care our providers deliver to kids, teens, and families. The ideal candidate brings a background in online course creation and project management. This is a fully remote position. **Responsibilities:** **Needs Assessment & Instructional Design** - Conduct front-end needs analyses with clinical leadership to diagnose performance gaps and define measurable, performance-based learning objectives. - Apply adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, Backward Design) to structure modular asynchronous and synchronous training paths. - Partner closely with clinical subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate complex behavioral health protocols into digestible, scenario-based learning experiences. **Content Development & Multimedia Production** - Design and develop interactive e-learning modules, job aids, and knowledge checks using Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise). - Script, record, and edit multimedia elements, including video walkthroughs, audio voiceovers, screencasts, and graphic assets, using tools such as Camtasia. - Use generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, AI voiceover platforms) responsibly to accelerate storyboarding, draft scenario scripts, build assessment items, and streamline authoring workflows. - Stay current on emerging technologies and trends in digital learning. **Measurement, Quality Assurance & Iteration** - Build assessments that evaluate learner comprehension, retention, and clinical application. - Conduct rigorous quality assurance reviews of AI-assisted drafts and finalized modules to confirm clinical accuracy, tone, instructional integrity, and technical functionality before deployment. - Gather post-training analytics and learner feedback to continuously refine and improve curriculum assets. **Project Management** - Deliver work against defined project timelines, share regular progress updates with cross-functional partners, and keep project tracking tools (e.g., ClickUp) current in real time. **What You Need to Succeed in the Role** - Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, or a related field. - 2+ years of professional experience in instructional design and digital course development, ideally for specialized, technical, or clinical adult audiences. - Demonstrated proficiency in rapid e-learning authoring tools (specifically Articulate 360) and video/audio editing software (e.g., TechSmith Camtasia, Audacity, or Adobe Creative Cloud). - Solid foundation in adult learning theory, instructional design models, and assessment design (e.g., Bloom's Taxonomy, Kirkpatrick Evaluation Model). - Practical experience using generative AI tools to accelerate content ideation, drafting, and multimedia production while maintaining strict editorial and factual oversight. - Strong project management and organizational skills. - Clear, effective verbal and written communication across remote, multidisciplinary teams. - Ability to work well both independently and as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. - Interest or background in behavioral health is a plus. - Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic startup environment: we're looking for candidates who embrace change, thrive in ambiguity, and shift readily as priorities and team needs evolve. A portfolio of past instructional design projects, storyboards, or interactive e-learning modules is required with your application. **Salary** The expected annual salary for this role is between $72,000–$80,000. Actual starting salary will be determined on an individualized basis and will be based on several factors including but not limited to specific skill set, work experience, etc. **Why Join Our Team** - Generous benefits package (401k with match, Flexible PTO, paid holidays, paid service days, 4 week paid sabbatical, 12 week paid parental leave, health benefits starting on your first day, and more) - Opportunity to join a mission-driven company that is changing the landscape of pediatric mental health treatment - Chance to make a far-reaching impact by helping children and families access desperately-needed, evidence-based care - Opportunity to work with talented and experienced team members who have devoted their lives to solving this problem - Fully virtual: work from the comfort of your home with periodic in-person retreats **Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging (DEIB)** We want to make our clinical services available for everyone, no matter where you come from, what you look like, or how you identify. To achieve this, we recognize we must continually make progress in building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive team. Through these efforts, we support two primary objectives at InStride Health: 1. Providing high quality patient care to families. We are in a privileged position to support families during a vulnerable time in their lives. We approach all families and each other with compassion and are most effective as a diverse team where all individuals feel valued, respected, and accepted. 2. Building a mission-driven business that lasts. Specifically, we believe our commitment to a supportive culture improves innovation, decision-making, and efficiency.
